I know that to get a listing in dmoz we have to submit the site to ODP. But is it possible for a listing to appear in dmoz if the listing is submitted in some others site.

My exact question is whether dmoz include listings directly submitted to the directory or it will also include listings submitted to other sites affiliated to it.

    I don't think so.
But the editors might add your link to the directory if they find the
    link helpful and good.

More than half the site that get listed in DMOZ are not suggested in the first place.

As for your question, yes you need to suggest it to DMOZ,...but that is all you are doing - "suggesting". When an editor decides to look for sites to add to that category they may or may not go though the cesspool of crap that is suggested, or they may go elsewhere to find useful sites to list. Each editor works differently.
