Indexed But Not Showing In Search....Why ?

I built this site and it has been live over a week now !
It is quite well SEO on page and keyword optimized with original content
http://epiphone-les-paul.com

Why doesn't it show up in Google search results when I Google search the term: epiphone les paul ?
You would think it would show some where ! This term epiphone les paul is in my url , the title of my home page and also the key word of my homepage. You would think epiphone les paul it would at least show up in google results.
I have checked in Google search

"site:epiphone-les-paul.com" === produces 6 results , which is most of my pages.

"info:epiphone-les-paul.com" === produces one result , which is homepage.

I have Google analytics and it is seems to be working fine on there. I also have webmasters and on there it has found the site map and urls , How under indexed url's it is 0 . It has not populated any other information yet either. Like I said it has been about a week now...

I guess at this point I can assume that http://epiphone-les-paul.com is indexed at Google?
If something is indexed , does that mean it should show up in the search results some where too ?

**** Thank you in advance for the feedback and help ****

Yes Im sure you could have hit a keyword that doesnt have much competition or traffic..but new sites have fresh content..google indexes that for a little. It takes time to hold your "spot" so to speak. You will index and un-index frequently.

I have the site networked , so when i do a new post on that home page below . That same post goes out to many social networks and bookmarks thru my feedburner RSS feed and onlywire for book marking. This creates many backlinks around.

EX. face book , my space , digg , newsvine , plaxo , google reader, Igoogle . stumble upon , scrib , reddit and many other places.

Is this the wrong kinda backlinks ?

    Stephen,

I noticed the same thing with one of my sites. It took longer to get indexed and I am assuming because of the hyphens in my url. Not sure why that is but I have indexed other sites and have ranked very very well for them. But the one with hyphens took longer.

Obviously, that is my speculation but it seems to be the case. As for getting traffic that would be quite simple in your case if you worked at it. To get indexed quickly I made a post or site, submitted it to Digg and Reddit and pinged all the links. I then made some articles on my niche which I also pinged when completed.

As for getting traffic, free traffic that is, I became part of some forums related to my niche. You can type "your keyword + forum" and get a list of forums. I use only the forums with quite a bit of users and high pr as well. As you mentioned you know a good deal of internet marketing so I am sure you know most of this information I mentioned.

This may be a silly suggestion but seeing that this is a WP blog site do you have the button checked to be hidden from the search engines?

No your not using the wrong sites for backlinks at all. Obviously you want more targeted backlinks but for the purpose of getting indexed you have done more than enough.

In regards to getting traffic from backlinks I also make posts or comments on blogs that are similar to mine with an informative comment which brings quite a bit of traffic to my sites too. But really articles on your topic, feeds and of course the all might forum posts are really going to do well for bringing you traffic for your niche.

Well, On-Site SEO is only about 20% of the battle. 80% is OFF-Site SEO, like backlinks, and that is the hard part.

You are competing with 622,000 other people targeting the same phrase, so why would Google choose you as the top 10? (more links!)

Just having the name you are targeting in the url doesn't help as much as it used to (since May I believe).

Some site may show up on the 1st page of Google when they are brand new, but they will fade away and then if you are lucky (or worked really hard building links, or have little competition) it will return. Otherwise it will be in the mix with the other 600,000 pages.

Once you accomplish all the offsite tasks, then the only thing you have left to worry about is being sued by Les Paul for using their trademarked name on YOUR domain. Or if you are lucky, they will just have you remove the domain which would waste all your time and effort.

Another thing is when I am doing SEO I can really perform quite well for getting indexed and ranking. But once in a while there are some terms that well for the most part are tough to get ranked. Even low competition terms at times will be tricky to get indexed and ranked for. Not sure why that is really, but when I run up against something like that I use the one sure fire way to get it over the top so to speak....

You ready for it? lol Its Press Releases!! Yes, believe it or not an optimized press release works wonders!

You shouldn't have many problems ranking very highly for your primary keyword since you have the exact match domain which is a VERY important factor in terms of rankings, based on my experience.

I took a look at the competition on the first page, and it doesn't look like many people are really optimizing for this specific term. Sure, on the face of it, it may look like it's competitive, but the reality is that the average is about 100 links per domain, to that page (different from links to rest of the domain). And much less are optimizing with the anchor text for that specific keyword. So you should be OK.

I would focus on more than social bookmarking for links. From my experience, blog posting is an extremely effective tactic to get quality links without having to write out long articles. There's some good networks out there that allow you to publish your posts from one place to high PR domains. There's a lot of others things you can do, but consistency is KEY.

If you're looking to get traffic quicker, then you need to focus also on the long tail. Find some relevant keywords that aren't as competitive and I'm sure you'll start seeing some more traffic in no time.

And like others have said, give it some more time, and most likely your site will eventually show up somewhere. I checked your rankings in Market Samarai and you're not even showing up in the top 500. So definitely work on the back links, and monitor your rankings. Rank Checker for Firefox (free) is also a good tool for that by the way...

I also noticed your preferred URL is non "www". Just make sure you build all your links to this version of your domain URL, since they are technically 2 different URL's.

      All the best.

        Stephen,

Your site needs three main things to get traffic for search engines:

        1) Activity

Get people commenting on your blog posts. Write engaging content. The more activity from others, the more Google sees it as dynamic content which it loves. This is especially the case since Google's caffeine update in June.

        2) Backlinks

This means you need to work out a CONSISTENT link building strategy whereby links are coming INWARDS to your site frequently, consistently and forever more. The more inbound links, the more favour with the search engines and the more traffic your site will receive.

        3) Content

Write lots of engaging content that is search engine optimised. This means using your target keyword as the title tag, several times in the description, your meta tags (or WordPress tags), within your article (keyword density >5%). Use H1, H2 and H3 tags if possible. Label images with alt tags.

Again, high quality regular posting of articles is the way forward. I know this is a challenge and often something bloggers don't enjoy.

I have just been experiencing the same problem with a new site i just put up with an exact match domain name. Indexed after 2 or 4 days (took a while, even with building some backlinks!) and not showing anywhere in the rankings.

It has nice content with the right sprinkling of the keyword and is on-site SEO'd pretty much as I can. In Traffic Travis my site (from the sitemap) gets an A+ for SEO on my chosen keyword phrase and the competition isnt too difficult.

Hard to see why, in the search it wouldnt be anywhere at all.

Lets see what happens in the next few days.

    Stephen,

If you want to do well, then you have to get a decent market research tool. I would suggest market samurai. It is well worth the investment in your business.

Once you have this tool, go through their training videos - they have some great suggestions where beginners should start. Unfortunately, epiphone les paul is not one of them. For the US market according to my results (which will vary depending on which data centre you are getting data from, so don't I don't want to hear complaints from anyone else who says my data is wrong) gets a nice 14795 searches per day and you have 630000 competing pages.

For a beginner with a small marketing budget, that is a lot.

Bascially, if you are not on the first page of Google for a specific search term you don't exist. Take a look at your top ten. According to my results (again, this will differ), an internal page to epiphone.com takes out the top spot and epiphone.com takes out number 2. What are your chances of getting close to that? That site is 12 years old, has a page rank of 6, 1300 indexed pages of content and has about 30000 backlinks (thats just whats shows up in Yahoo so there are many, many more). And it has Yahoo and DMOZ listing too.

I would suggest aiming for long tail for your search terms. All things being equal when looking at the competition, you have to be able to say to yourself I can do better than that (ie whether it is pages or backlinks etc)

It will take some time before your site will get on first page. You can not expect top ranking for new website overnight. You should get some back links first and only then you can expect good ranking.
