Site de-indexed by Google - For info

Annoying but interesting,

My main website is being constructed and will use a domain name that has been running on a single page for the last 3 years. I very recently replaced my single 'registrar' ads page with my own page giving a short 'under construction' note plus a brief business introduction with contact info (as per signature). I left three Amazon affiliate ads on the same page from my previous main domain I am retiring.

Today I find the Googlebot has deindexed the site! Can only guess that one brief page of text together with 3x Amazon ads has triggered this. Strange really. I mean, what right has Big G really got to make these decisions? I have been in top 3 consistently for my personal name keyword search. Now vanished as though deceased.

Not going to complain, but will need to reapply to G when I have the whole site up and running.

Just a note for information and any comments on same experience (?).

Um....perhaps because it is their voluntary search engine that they run?

If I put up a directory, I have every damn right right to decide what pages are in the directory and what pages are not. I could decide to only put up websites with the word "black" in them if I wanted to.

You are perfectly right Tom, of course. Although the awesome power that G and others (FB) have can go to some people's heads.

I will remove the Amazon ads this minute and see if site bounces back before I get it finished. Although being deindexed I will likely need to ask politely to be let back in. Like I said, annoying but interesting. And Matt Cutts did say in one of his Webmaster Central videos that G appreciate an 'under construction' note rather than a 401. Mmmm... Matt needs to tell his googlebot.
