How can we SEO our sites while the majority of the links on forums and other websites, blogs, are NO-Follow?

#google #links #nofollow #ranking

Nofollow backlinks are counted as backlinks and can help your ranking on Search engines. But they cant help you to increase your pagerank. But dofollow backlinks can help your ranking on Search engines AND help you to increase your pagerank.

Thanks. I never heard of this before. Do you have a source on this?
Can anyone confirm the post of "socialbookmark"

In my opinion Google doesn't follow no-follow links with their Googlebot, so it can't count as a backlink. If you say "nofollow this link" you are saying that Googlebot don't have to follow the link, am I right?

You are very much right. Google will not follow that link.

Page rank has pretty much lost it's importance for site ranking.
As long as the link is from a quality site even a Nofollow link will help you.

Pagerank just determines how often your site gets crawled and how deeply it gets crawled. It used to be the be all end all, but things have changed - focus on trust, quality, authority, and relevance.

Yeah, page rank means what? What I think page rank still does is have your website rank for broad matches to your keywords better, based on my experience.

As far as ranking for a specific keyword, I say keyword domain is DEFINITELY the way to go.

I used to be so focused on monitoring the pagerank of my sites - however I haven't even checked the PR in months - mostly because I don't care. I have PR0, PR 1, PR 2 sites that get HUGE traffic...

IMHO its better to focus on SERP instead of getting more green in your bar.. hehe

Its all about appearing natural to the search engines. It has been said time and time again. If you concentrate on purely targetting do follow links then you may raise a red flag.

I consider no follow links as a traffic boost. i.e. a reader of your thoughtful comments may click on your link.

Im confused after reading that no-follow dosesnt mean no rankings, so I checked out what it says at Google quote

"Essentially, using nofollow causes us to drop the target links from our overall graph of the web"

This to me says that not only does the target link not recieve page rank it also means that it will have no ranking benefits either, who agress with me?

I love watching Matt Cutts videos, great insight.

There are MANY places to get DOFOLLOW links, you just have to do the research and look around for them.

Nofollow can be great for click through traffic. Focus on dofollow, but don't turn down a good nofollow link.
