Hey Warriors, I know enough about optimizing sites to offer the service to some clients that I have. I was wondering if any of you SEO gurus follow a project plan or workflow when optimizing a site for a company or small business.

I need a starting point and a goal to be successful. Also I want to look organized and professional, I'm having a hard time figuring out where to start and what order to do my optimization efforts.

One of my biggest obstacles is writing SEO proposals and determining rates to charge my clients. Are any of you guys willing to share a sample proposal or any other useful documents pertaining to SEO for clients?

Where you start pretty much depends on the specifics of the job, so its kind of a big question. Are you planning on playing only in one, specific area of SEO (which would make the answer come faster) or are you pretty much doing "all of it?"

ie - Local SEO would be approached differently than Online SEO.

Anyway, be more specific about what you're doing, that'll help.

    Cheers

I'm basically looking to take a couple existing sites one in education offering online training. and the other is an eCommerce store with no web presence. I know I need to do the initial analysis of the site and keyword research to help get their content categorized correctly. And I know how to code the site so its w3c compliant and all that jazz. But what I lack is a nice project flow that I can present to a client before I start. I was wondering if anyone follows any set of rules or guidelines when revamping a site with no exposure and bad code. I suck at writing, and I've literally have tried and failed in writing up plans to present to none technical clients quite a few times.
