Hello Warriors,

Greetings of the Day!

I want to setup a site and test it out solely for Google AdSense, at least for the time being. So, I thought I might as well perform/conduct an educated test with my new website. Hence, I'm here seeking help...

The questions primarily apply to the Warriors that make $1,000+ a month solely from AdSense. Of course, you can share your ideas even if you're not making $1,000+ a month from AdSense [Any relevant information helps ]. Your website(s) might have other monetisation techniques/platforms working simultaneously. However, let's just consider the contribution AdSense makes to your income every month.

Questions:
1. What niche is your website in? I'm not looking for a list of keywords. I understand that would be too much to ask, so just the basic needed here, unless of course... you're feeling extra-generous today

2. How many articles have you posted on your blog/website? Also, what's your average word count per article like?

3. If you run a blog, what kind of theme-setup do you use - magazine-style or normal blog layout?

4. How old is your site? The idea of asking this question is to understand how long it takes in your niche to hit the '$1,000 a month from AdSense' mark.

5. This is an extra and you might choose to ignore answering this: Would you like to share the current monthly earnings (average) of your website - AdSense only and AdSense+ClickBank+CPA+others?

6. Another extra: What kind of an ad placement layout would you suggest for improving CTR with AdSense?

Thanks a lot for your time and support with this thread, and for helping us out here. Looking forward to some really intriguing discussion here

Don't get too caught up with what other people are doing. The basics for Adsense are the same for any type of site that relies on organic traffic.

Pick a niche that you can get sufficient traffic to make your desired earnings. I know that is simplified but it really is what it boils down to. At rank 1 you will get about 40 - 50% of the total searches. Your CTR might be about 10%. Your CPC might be $0.50/click. To get to $1000/month your would need enough keywords ranked 1st that get search 10000/month.

Number of articles and size of the articles are really irrelevant. You can make as much money from 1 single page as 50 other pages - if you get the keyword selection wrong. You will need as many articles it takes to get the number of searches to make your $1000/month goal.

It is pretty easy to get an idea of expected CPC. There are several tools that give an estimate. Google keyword tool gives a rough enough idea to know if it is worthwhile. The other step is to make sure that there is enough advertisers available to give relevant ads for your content.

2 types of niches generally work best; ones with high priced products and ones closely related to expensive services. People are also happy to click on ads for these types of niches.

Don't get too worries about your theme either. Make sure it is user friendly as you don't want to alienate your visitor too much. Magazine themes are generally too busy but most 2 columns themes are adaptable.

Experiment with your ad units until you find ones that work. I have a lot of success by adding an ad unit at the end of each article (in addition to more standard placements). People like to look for somewhere to go after reading an article. If you want them to stay on your site you could replace the ad unit with related articles - this is a more standard practice amongst article directories.

Traffic to a site can grow exponetially after about 6 months. You still have to make sure everything else is done right before hand.

    To answer your questions:
1 - Weight Loss (I have many others)
    2 - 50+
3 - 2 columns. Ad unit after the title, wrapped in content (336 x 280); same unit at end of content; link unit in the sidebar.
    4 - 18 months
