Have you ever been searching for your own domain and you find a listing very highly ranked in the search engines like:

yourdomain - AboutUs Wiki Page

There are your website details, whois information maybe traffic information or even and estimate of your website's value all listed on this site. You did not put it there so how did it get there? Well these are whois search engines who scrape the internet for websites and they get their information from various public databases. Some webmasters are upset about this because it is usually was done without their permission. But if you are a marketer you want to be listed in these search engines. They are very highly ranked and it is another way people can find your website. You can get listed in these sites simply by submitting your site in the search engine's site check submission area. That usually is enough. One quick way to get some juicy backlinks to your sites is to submit your sites to these engines. Here is a list of some of them. If you have more please let me know or add them here. Thanks to Brad Callen and his promo video for SEO Link Vine which has some great SEO tips which gave me this idea. Though strangely most of the links he gave were dead I had to find a bunch of my own.

Domain Tools: Whois Lookup and Domain Suggestions

Actually I do not even know what these search engines are called. I just call them whois search engines. Does anybody know the proper term? Also does anybody know if there is some software which submits to all of them? I actually set one up on my domain but in order for a site to be listed someone has to actually submit the domain to be checked then it goes in the software's database. Other sites like this seem to scrape info from the internet and add the info automatically. Does anybody actually what type of software does this is and how to set it up? I know it is somewhat controversial but from a marketing standpoint I think it is a positive. Thanks. Apparently many are using Wiki software but I am not sure if the Wiki software part scrapes the whois databases.

If you want to kill it with these submissions it's a 2 step process. You want to grab Scrapebox and then you want to download the scrapebox addon for fast indexing. You can even add to the list yourself. I have it index me on over 33k sites in under an hour. All automated. It's the fastest way to get a site indexed.

Where did you compile your list from? or better yet, how did you go about compiling it.

Scrapebox only has 74 in the list and a quite a few of those are now returning errors. So it's actually down to about 50 now.

Its an old known way for making free and fast backlinks and also there are some softwares which can do it automatically for you. But i think as they are internal pages and all of them don't have any backlinks, this way is not so effective. But its better than nothing

I would appreciate a list of these sites.
I used to go to a site online somewhere that I just typed the website URL in and it did it all automagically right there on the site with a list on screen... Can't find it now though, don't remember where it was either....

You should'nt really think of them as backlinks, it is moreof an indexing tool. Links acquired are completly useless for ranking.
