Advice on a $100 bonus from google

I received a $100 adwords coupon for google, but it has a use-by date on it.

There seems to be a LOT of confusion on the net about this use-by date.

My qeustion is:

1 - do you need to 'sign up' for adwords before this date in order to get the $100. ie; just create an account and fund it... (you don't have to USE it by this date)?

or,

2 - must the $100 credit will be used before this date? (Because the value is only valid until the date... therefore if you haven't used it, you loose it)?

So, if I set up an account now, and prepay say $100 of my own in to it. (So theoretically I have $200) but I don't START my campaign until after this date has expired... will I loose the free $100 because it is no longer available?

Logic tells me that all that is necessary is to set up and fund the account before this date... and that of course the freebie will still be valid...

But my logic is sometimes tested...LOL

I'm an adwords newb, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think you have to sign up and apply the coupon code before the date expires.

Google hands those out all the time!

If you signup for a free Adwords account, you should get another $100 offer. I get the offer by snail-mail every 1/4, plus by email since I setup the free adwords account.

So take your time... they'll send you more offers.
Yep, Google are very generous with their offers... especially if you haven't used your account for a while.

I guess when you bring in so much profit from advertising you can afford to give a bit back once in a while (although you bet they end up making a profit on these...)

Yes, these offers come out all the time. They're good for tweaking your Adwords skills and trying things you normally wouldn't try... since slight mistakes in Adwords can costs you a bundle!

That's what I'm worried about as an Adwords newbie, Michael! Do you have any advice, for an virgin such as myself, who is about to dive into campaign number one...?

      Thanks.

Here is a theory of mine that you should probably watch out for...

Google has seriously tightened the strings on its landing page requirements. Running a successful campaign requires an unusually long learning curve for newbies.

Getting your account banned is extremely easy.

Coupons are being handed out to try and make up for lost clientèle.

At least this has been my experience.

Just take the free money and thank them. It doesn't go that far unless your niche was in the penny a click area. Mine were $4-$5 a click...thanks for the 20 visitors.

This is why me and PPC parted company a long time ago!

You're not the first person I have heard say that. Funny how all these coupons are flying around these days, isn't it...
