Imagine you can only use three SEO/backlinking/promotional methods for the rest of your life.

What would you pick as your top three strategies?

Be as vague or specific as you want.

    1:Keyword Research
    2:Content creation & Keyword mapping (been a bit cheeky here & rolled 2 into 1 )
    3:On page optimisation

If you focus on creating great content (which is great linkbait) you'll get people linking to you naturally anyway, and if you're doing your keyword research to focus on search terms you stand a chance of ranking page one for within the not too distant future, then you can get quick ROI just with content creating - whereas if you focus on terms which you need a lot of linkjuice to stand a chance of ranking for, you're probably going to find it takes a lot longer to start seeing a return.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

It doesn't matter. What matters is what you can do and how much you can make from it.

Make Believe Scenarios are not helpful.

    1-Three-headed-monster, TAGS (Title/Header/Description)(solid foundation)
    2-Backlinks (From PR3+ relevant sites)
2-Traffic (views = relevant popularity = Google Favor)

*Only go for ranking 1 KW phrase per page.

better content, more content, quality content, unique content...

All you'll ever need is a 'handful' of backlinks if...you provide all of the above.

    CONTENT IS KING

Agreed. content alone won't get you rankings for competitive search terms in a hurry, but it will get you lots of nice traffic from less competitive search tetms,

The only thing I'd add to this is keyword research, it really makes a big difference if you research your search terms first.

Why 3? Why not all 35 and prioritized? ;-)
Anyway, the post is of a good info biting.

    1. Original content - 10-12 articles a day.
    2. Internal contenxtual linking from these articles to selling pages.
    3. Paid links from high quality and old (read PR) sites to selling pages.

I think keyword research is a given. But so far I have been using:

    Article Marketing
    Onlywire.com for social bookmarking
    Blog Commenting

I've only been doing it for a little while now but it seems to be working slowly.
