I generally prefer short and simple domains without hyphens, unless it's a phrase or something. Between the choises you gave, I would go with the one with the hyphen, it's a word domain. Easier to remember.

I'd avoid hyphens wherever possible. (From a user - not SEO - perspective)

If you think from seo perspective then blue-widgets is better because Google would consider it as two word "blue" and "widgets".

Guest post links are effective when they are contextual and natural!!

I was brickwalling my sites on the weekend to find out what criteria my most successful sites did and what the under performing sites did not and after 2 hours of anaylising facts and figures it hit me right between the eyes.

My top 5 sites ($10+ per day) had 1 thing in common.

They are all exact match domains.

Of course you can still make great money with any domain name given the right treatment but this fact stood out like dog's #alls.

I guess the point of the post is the fact that if I find a keyword that has great potential but no exact domain available, I ditch it and move on to the next one. There are more than enough to go around.

When you say exact match, do you mean hyphen or not?

I definitely prefer www.blue-widgets. www.bluewidgetsonline is far too long and confusing for the eye. I have also chosen hyphened URLs: charly-bird.com and crystal-stars.com and from and SEO perspective it's not been a problem.

    Good Luck
