New domain unable to score for it's main keyword?

Hello!

About 2 weeks ago i registered a new domain and put a website on it. I have done some link-building and have now around 20 backlinks in yahoo site explorer. Google indexed it a week ago and i'm already on page 3-5 for a few longtail keywords. But for the main keyword ( present in the domain name, title, description etc ), i'm not in google search results.

My question is: why is my domain unable to score for it's main keyword? Does it happen to all new domains?

How competitive is the main keyword? How many backlinks do your competitors (on page 1) have for the keyword?

The domain is only 2 weeks old so I wouldn't worry. These things take time. Certainly more than 2 weeks.

Your site is not in a vacuum.
You don't know everything about your competition.
There is no formula to follow to be guaranteed #1.

The expectation to somehow be #1 in a short time, doing
some checkoff list, is your first mistake, and, sadly, what this
      forum is filled with.

Has nothing to do with a new domain or new website.

By doing good things, over time, you have a chance.
      But no guarantees.

Competition is not big, there are PR2-3 websites in top 10 results, each with no more than 500 backlinks.

What i mean is that my domain is not present in the 500 search results for it's main keyword.

You're definitely going to need to give your domain some time to mature. Right now the search engines aren't sure whether your domain is spam or not.

With all due respect, it is obvious your site does not rank for its main keyword. You will need to do more SEO work for it to rank. Period. Ranking is not automatic just because your main keyword is in the domain name.

If you have a EMD in a microniche, even with 2-3 backlinks you can rank in top 5.
