What do you think is better for small niche websites with 20-30 pages - a html/css site or wordpress blog?

The advantages of a html/css site is that they are extremely fast, require no database etc, easy to backup, you have 100% control of the code and you can make edits in design really easy. Also there are thousands of free html/css designs available, so you don't have to code it yourself.

The advantages of a wordpress blog is that it's easy to setup, many web 2.0 features like comments, various plug-ins etc. Also many templates are available.

What are you using?

I preferred html/css, but I got big problem while trying to expand my sites.
So, WP is better for for long term business.

I kind of get what you mean, but cant we add extra pages to static websites as well? Unless you mean A LOT more pages, then I kind of get it.

      Anyone have anymore thoughts though?

The ease of wordpress now with hundreds of different templates for every job pretty much make Wordpress superior over having to use css/html.

I would say Wordpress. And you can implement the html files that you already have. A simple copy/paste.

Wordpress without a doubt, the plugins alone save you enormous amounts of time, easy plugins for analytics, sitemaps and seo save you plenty time. Once you have a pattern for wordpress niche sites you can have one up and running in 5 minutes well bar content but the shell with all plugins and customization can be done in 5 minutes then you just need to stick your content in and viola.

It really depends on what your goals are but you cannot go wrong with wordpress. They have a good support community, addons / mods / plugins. Very easy to setup, user friendly, and almost everyone is familiar with it.

WP is definitely a better platform BUT there are issues when creating and maintaining sites made using wp:

    1) They are more vulnerable to hacking when compared to static html/css based sites.
    2) To reduce the attacks, always ensure that your site files are backed up.

    3) Keep updating the wp version. It is because of the higher vulerability-to-hacking aspect that WP keeps getting updated versions every now and then/regularly.

    4) There is definitely an excess loading time in wp sites when compared to pure static html/css sites and the best thing to ensure that your wp sites load fast is that, it should only run on bare minimum plugins. It's the plugins which perform the dynamic operation of the wp coding so, keep them to a minimum.
