Hello Warriors,

It has been some time since i contributed to the warrior forum, so here I am giving to you a little secret that has worked for me in regards to getting the following:

PR7-PR9 Link
A .edu Link

The Method

Many universities and colleges have their own forums. If you didn't know this, now you do. Back in the day people realized they can post links on these forums and get the .edu link kick back results. However, their links were not sticking.

Here is what I did to make them stick:

I looked for business schools that have forums, I have come to find that all these schools such like MIT, NYU, SYR, YALE, they all have entrepreneur sections in their forums.

so i signed up, made a post on the forum that went something like this:

++++++++++++++++++++++

Hello (inputted the mascot name to make it seem like I was from the school),

I see a lot of great minds in here with some great ideas, I am a web designer looking to build my portfolio up and wouldn't mind offering some free web design services to a few of you guys.

It's a win win situation, you get to start up your company, and I get to build upon my portfolio.

I've made a website for you guys to give me your information if your interested.

Click here --> Insert Link with anchor text

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

here is an example of a non-business to business niche one

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hello Bearcats,

I'm looking to get advice from my peers on my newly established business. I'm a huge shoe maniac and so I designed this review site around specifc type of shoes.

Do you guys think you can give me your thoughts on the design and style of the website, and maybe the overall idea?

Here it is --> Link with anchor text to shoe selling website

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In any case,

The method works, you stick, you get the link, and on top of that you do receive some traffic.

The tough part is finding where these forums are that are do-follow, and I'm not going to sit and tell you so don't ask

    What you've suggested is exactly what all of the backlink pack sellers are offering, a PR 0 backlink on a high PR sites forum.

    The "let's spam forums for backlinks" method ins't anything new. People do it to this forum every day.

    .gov links are easy.

    Go introduce your business to a local city council where the minutes are transcribed and published on the town website.

      And how can this be different from the usual forum spam...?

      Ahha, you added misleading to spamming...just missed it...

    chris and gold,

    I don't know what links your looking at, but I'm getting the value of the placement.

    In the end, it is not spamming. here is the major difference.

    I will follow up on the conversation, the example of the free website, in the end provided me with more business, I used Hostgator as an affilaite, build a free website, and got them to sign up with a hosting account.

    I made $100 everytime that happened.

    The follow up is what makes the difference between spam or not.

    The posts I made in regarding the shoe website... i received feedback on in regards to design, I indeed took that feedback and adjusted it because it made sense, so see it as you want, but i don't see it as spamming.

    I see it as a position.

      Your title is about getting a free .edu link.

      But what you're describing now is scaling your business through forum exposure....

      These are 2 totally different areas....

      It's true that you ends up with a backlink from this forum, but what you describes looks much like someone who paid for a WSO and made an offer to get a backlink from the WF!! The real benefit here is business, not backlinking.

    You failed to mention this in your original post. If the forum has a legitimate forum for posting business opportunities then you're right, it's not spamming. It's forum marketing.

    However, many people will never follow up on the threads they started. They are going to hit every forum they can find and move on to the next and never return. That is spamming.

    You see a lot of it here, one post wonders posting exactly what you are suggesting and the mods are generally quick to delete them.

    But as I originally stated, pretty much what you put in your original post is nothing but old school forum spamming and it's been going on for years.

    I agree that if you follow up with the offer
    and actually do what you said you would, then
    it's definitely not spam. Bravo!

    You guys are missing the point entirely.

    Sure, what he's doing is nothing new. But the point of his post is that he is showing you how to get your backlink to STICK.

    Most forums delete spam posts, so he's doing it slightly differently by offering a service, and then dropping his backlink, the benefit being is that a) he gets his backlink to stick, and b) he might get some business out of it. The fact that some people might reply to his post means that the chances of his post being deleted go down greatly.

    Its not a 'true' pr8 backlink, but some of that PR will filter down to his link, just like a profile backlink would.

    Nothing new but why put the person down for trying to contribute something to the forum?

    I think this is a great perspective on getting a very high quality forum link to actually stick. And as long as you actually do follow up on the forum, it is definitely not spam.
