So, im still not indexed on a site I went line on last week (weird because I can usually get indexded within 24 hours) and was thinking maybe I need to really buckle down and get this keyword thing going. So far all I do is use high rated keywords and maybe some words that are not used on my site to stand out.If I change up my keywords now is this a bad thing this late in the game? Looking at marketing samurai to help me out on this....

It really is up to the search engines when you get indexed. Just make sure you have some backlinks and be patient. Sometimes it can take weeks....

I think changing your keywords now will make all the work you did on the original keywords wasted. I would take Jeannie's advice and just wait it out a bit and keep working on the current keywords.

Has the search engines crawled your site yet? That should be able to be seen in your stats software.

Has the search engines crawled you but just not yet indexed? It may take a week or two.

Inbound links in a location where the search engines crawl daily could help you get indexed faster.

Personally, it is never too late to change keywords, but it seems your real problem is not your keywords, but your crawl rate. If you have not been crawled yet, then you should not be thinking about changing keywords just yet.

          I second this.

The vast majority of my sites are WP blogs, so getting crawled and indexed usually happens very quickly (within 24hrs like the OP said in the initial post).

Keyword research is essential though and there are certain things you must look for, not the least of which are (1) a reasonable amount of daily search volume (exact match preferably), and perhaps more importantly (2) an acceptable level of competition.

It almost goes without saying but many people often only focus on one of these two areas.

Check to see if your site has been indexed, but also double and triple check that you are focusing on the very best keywords for your niche. This is essential step one...in my opinion at least.

          Best of luck to you,

This niche is very high BUT the service i do is manually while others use software. Im using a wordpress so really my keywords are beign used in my articles and post on my site. WP seems (unless im missing it) not much of an area to use keywords like meta tags

Are you currently using any SEO plugins?

I recommend All-In-One SEO plugin. It's extremely useful.

I have actually written a report on how to properly optimize your content for keywords. This may or may not be useful for you, so let me know if you're interested.

All I do is write a quick one or two sentence summary of my article to place in the description box. Just be sure, whatever you do, to include your keyword early on. This is especially true in the title. Place your target keyword at the very beginning of the title, rather than say, at the end.

Here is that report I mentioned. It's just a checklist to ensure you have proper on-page keyword optimization. Hope it helps...
