No idea, why this happened suddenly. My site was in the second page, but now it is no where; Also Back links shows only one instead of 10. The Back links are mostly from my sites/friends sites. Any idea what is happening? This has happened to two of my sites. The second site's ranking was 3rd in the search results, now no where to been. Yahoo also dropped it. One website was down for a short time. (Godaddy hosting)

This has happened to me on numerous occasions. You decide to drop one link and then, a few days later, end up sitting on 1100+ (yes, 1100!) backlinks. It takes ages (sometimes over a month) for google to lose them. I have actually asked Vanessa fox (ninebyblue d0t c0m) from Google if there is any system in place that recognizes this. I'm sure Google must be aware of this... I think to be honest that it doesnt really affect SERP at all, google probably only sees it as one link.

It's called QDF (Query Deserves Freshness), it's a temporary boost in ranking, when you post new pages, that wears off after a brief period and then your page sinks to it currently earned rankings.

Be patient and wait for couple of days, weeks and see you the difference.

I think google is updating its algorithm and it will takes time though to a site to be matured, be patience google takes a hard time to indexed many sites.

These days, ranking is all about backlinks, age and consistency. Black hat techniques are slowly being algo'd out. The successful websites will be the ones that stand the test of time. If you do drop after some time, then you will have to fight your way back up as the new rank is where Google feels you really belong after collecting visitor behavioral data from your site.

Of course, without knowing the URL that was ranking, the keyword it was ranking for, a history of changes on the site, age of site, and countless other tidbits, about all you'll get here are wild guesses.

How are you checking your backlinks? Are you doing a "link:" operator on Google Search or are you checking this in Google Webmaster Tools?

The "link:" operator is very inaccurate, it only provides samples of what backlinks you have. By contrast, GWT is very accurate.

Market Samurai gets their link data from Yahoo Site Explorer which is notorious for showing you more or less links depending on how they feel like. Don't stress.

I had also gone from this situation. When I do SBM my rankings were up but when my link fell behind the others my rankings were down.
