It happens many times with some websites, generally when Google update oits database then the query results are showwn by other data centers which are not accurate, just wait for some time your website will come again in the SERPs. The same case was already happened with me, may website was disappeared from the Google and come back after 3 weeks.

It will happen in some of the cases like: It could be a bug at Google; it could be a penalty; it could be a loss of some key backlink power - and there are many other possibilities

It's to do with data center updates.

Sometimes...you may be getting data from different centers...some have your site on the page...and some don't.

Just give it some time when all the data centres have the same data...then you will find that your site is back onto the page.

To find out if you've been penalized...just check if it's in the index. If it is...then it's the above issue that's causing your problem.

If it's gone from the index...well, that's a different case altogether.

You could be in the dance. I noticed over night some positions changed for other sites of mine. I have disappeared for a day also, just watch it for a couple of days, then you'll be able to figure out if it is temporary or some sort of penalty.

Here is what I found on the possible reason for your site:
Because of the nature of Page Rank, the calculations need to be performed about 40 times and, because the index is so large, the calculations take several days to complete. During this period, the search results fluctuate; sometimes minute-by
minute. It is because of these fluctuations that the term,
    Google Dance, was coined.

The dance usually takes place sometime during the last third of each month.

Google has two other servers that can be used for searching. The search
results on them also change during the monthly update and they are part of
the Google dance. For the rest of the month, fluctuations sometimes
occur in the search results, but they should not be confused with the actual dance. They are due to Google's fresh crawl and to what is known "Everflux".
Google has two other searchable servers apart from Google. They
are www2.google.com and www3.google.com. Most of the time, the results
on all 3 servers are the same, but during the dance, they are different.

For most of the dance, the rankings that can be seen on www2 and www3
are the new rankings that will transfer to www when the dance is over. Even
though the calculations are done about 40 times, the final rankings can be
seen from very early on. This is because, during the first few iterations, the calculated figures merge to being close to their final figures.

You can see this with the Page Rank Calculator by checking the Data box and performing some calculations. After the first few iterations, the search
results on www2 and www3 may still change, but only slightly.

During the dance, the results from www2 and www3 will sometimes show on
the www server, but only briefly. Also, new results on www2 and www3 can
disappear for short periods. At the end of the dance, the results on www will
match those on www2 and www3.
    GOOGLE Dance Tool
This Google Dance Tool allows you to check your rankings on all three tools
    www, www2 and www3
and on all 9 datacenters simultaneously.
The Google Web Directory works in combination of the Google Search Technology and the Netscape Open Directory Project which makes it possible to search the Internet organized by topic. Google displays the pages in order of the rank given to it using the Page Rank Technology. It not only searches the titles and descriptions of the websites, but searches the entire content of sites within a related category, which ultimately delivers a comprehensive search to the users. Google also has a fully functional web directory which categorizes all the searches in order.

      Hi vpgemini,

Sorry, but you are wrong about this, the term was coined back when Google would release major algorithm updates that would shift the rankings for nearly all websites all at once. Those updates tended to send major shockwaves through the SEO community.

Google took note of how upsetting this was to so many webmasters they decide to do algorithm updates in more frequent and smaller increments. Webmasters continue to use the term to describe their own individual shifts in rankings.

While the PageRank algorithm is an iterative calculation that may in fact go through as many as 40 iterations, the remarkable thing about the PageRank calculation is in how fast it can be calculated. In the past Google would calculate PR in advance and store it. Now they calculate PR at query time, so the assertion that it takes days to calculate is flat out wrong.

        Hey,

Thanks all of you for your help. Actually yesterday I submited my sitemap again on webmaster tools as I made an update to my site, I added privacy policy on my blog.

Resubmiting the sitemap could be a possible reason for my site not showing in serps??

That's weird. But, a possible reason can be that your content is not copyright, or you have done something against the laws of google. Maybe that's why google banned your website from its SERPs.

Dont worry this happened to my site many times, and it usually just comes back on page one.

No re-submitting your site isnt the reason for your site dropping off but it cant hurt. Dont forget what I wrote above about the google dance. Its always the towards the end of the month.

I have a few sites and one that is one page one and the number one spot for 15 different comp keywords. It dropped off and came back so really no worries.

Actually im worried because my site is not anywhere in the serps and it was on 12th a day before.

One thing I did was made a new post on a free wordpress blog and linked that post to my main blog.

That post on free wordpress blog through which I linked my main blog was not original I just copied some of the para from other articles and I combined those para to make a new post.

And those articles from which i copied were not my article.

Could that would be the reason for my blog not showing in search results??

But why would google not show my main blog in the search result if my main blog has a original content and the post from which I am linking my main blog is not original???
