Higher Serp position = higher Ad CTR?

Hi folks,

Just noticed that with one of my sites that jumped up from around #6 to #3 for a search term, I'm suddenly getting a noticeably higher CTR on my ads - as well as more traffic of course . Seems that the people who visit your site from lower serp positions / random long tail traffic are more likely to be "researching" the subject thoroughly and therefore less likely to be shopping.

Anyone confirm / deny this?

    Sometimes.

Think about it. The clickers are sometimes actually better the further down you go. They've already clicked on 5 sets of results, so when they click you at #6 and they see a relevant ad they click there too.

But yes, in some cases I've seen an improvement in CTR from an improvement in rankings.
