How Long For Backlink to Show Up?

When I create a back link from, say, a web 2.0 site to a post on my main blog site, what is that would make it show up on a backlink checker? I use a number of automated tools that check for backlinks, and even though I know for a fact that a certain page HAS backlinks, the backlink checker isn't finding them. Do they have to be indexed by a SE before the checker can find it? Just curious why a backlink I know is there isn't showing up.

Thanks.

Ken

Don't be too concerned - It's just 1 link on the entire internet.

Google has to find it, your back link checker needs to recognize it, etc etc

You should forget about it and keep building more links Besides, if it doesnt show up that's all the more reason to build more!

Thanks Toby. I've been doing what you say and the researcher side of my brain keeps tapping me on the shoulder (whoa, weird mixed metaphor, no?) and asking for a little understanding of cause-and-consequence before I keep blasting away. If I can understand the nature of a single link, then I can be more effective and efficient at getting loads of them.

If I "scientifically" figure this out (shya), I promise not to do a product launch.

      Cheers,

      Ken

Not to mention Google doesn't give you credit for lots of links. Generally it shows the least amount.

Yes, search engines will take some time before they can index your link. remember that even if the result is not yet showing, you just have to continue with the linking process and you'll get the result in the end. All large companies experienced this when they are just starting.

I dont buy into the "natural" indexation argument ... i never quite understood what was "natural' about an algorithm ?

Nor do I understand whats "natural" about manually or via software foisting a backlink on another page about your own site? Im going to place an "unnatural" backlink on a page because i need them and i need them as soon as I can get them to improve my rankings - but now that Ive placed that un-natural [ and some might say even UN-Holy ] backlink - now I want to let things go naturally ...? LOL ... ok ...

The results of letting links get found naturally? ... 80% failure.

      Tested - documented.

Backlink Indexation isnt just a myth ... its now come mainstream. Check into it.

There will be time enough for counting when the link building is done...

Umm ya ... about that bgmacaw ...

dont obsess over whether links are getting indexed .... to the detriment of stopping - keep rocking - but you can automate and improve the indexation links process

    Ken,
the backlinks may take 2 to 4 weeks (on average) to appear. its mainly because google don't want to show backlinks immediately ( this is because many times spammers earn backlinks from some sites, in count of hunderds, but those spam links get removed in 1-2 day ) Google don't want to show all those new links as backlinks.

also, if some link is live only for 2-3 weeks, then there is no point in indexing it by google, so google index only those links which are online since few weeks.

so, no need to check backlinks daily, see only once a week or once in 2 weeks.

Agreed with you guys, Its normal to google that it takes a time to indexed your links they will see to it that if your site is updating regularly, i suggest that continue building quality backlinks and create informative content for your story to be more competitive in the market.

The spiders have got to find it first, and depending on what kind of links you use, the difficulty of getting google to find a link varies. But, just keep on trucking while also investing in an indexing tool like BLE, or BIE..It will get your links indexed fast, which makes all the backlink checkers happy But, don't get too hung up on it if 30 links are showing and you made 50 or something..Point= get an indexer and just keep building
    Cheers
