Is it wise to write articles on extremely low competition keywords retreived from the Google Keyword tool?

What are the implications for getting traffic?

well low search results mean not a lot of traffic. However if your looking to get easy first page rankings then low search results most likely mean less competition. So you take the good with the bad.

Hi Networth, thanks. Maybe I didn't explain properly, I meant low-competition (not low searches). I 'm talking about the competition column of Google keyword tool.

The competition shown in the keyword tool is for the paid advertisers. The competition that they're showing you has nothing to do with the organic results.

I know its for paid advertisers, but the competition column and high bar usually would mean the paid advertisers have opted to use that keyword for PPC because there's some traffic there that converts?

Yes, this is a good idea to promote also low search volume keywords. Because, long tail keywords have little traffic, but it will give you more conversion. It is easy to promote that type of keywords and bring that keywords in the first page of Google.

First target low traffic keywords and after getting ranked on that keywords go for high competition keywords.

low competitive keywords are easiest way to get ranked but i think it really takes time to get traffic. better go for popular keywords but not too popular coz again its difficult to rank high in too competitive keywords.
