Forum Backlinks

Just a quick question about getting backlinks from forums.

If a forum has restrictions in posting links and signature links until a certain amount of posts, can a valuable backlink still be gained from having your URL in the profile page?

It seems like I have got a couple of backlinks from profile pages on forums without even posting a url in a post or signature.

Does this work and is it as effective?

    Well if Forum doesn't allow links and signature at initial stage, but it allow links and signature after some posts than the forums can be valuable for your site if you use site url in profile page.But the forums can also most effective if it allow do follow links and signature along post thread and reply.

    It is useful to have the link on your profile, but mainly if you post to that site. every post that you make will contain a link to your profile even if you can't have links in your signature. This helps increase links to your profile page and will benefit the link on your profile page aswell

    Obviously I'm aiming to get do follow links in posts and signatures, but there are always a few that take time due to post count restrictions etc So I just wondered if the profile links would have any benefit in the meantime.

      I think depends on the forum and how search engine friendly it is. If it's using session IDs when robots visit, you probably won't get a link from it, and the page won't get PR. Otherwise, over time forum pages do develop PR.

    Yes you need to bi careful not to post to much on a day. I personally am registered to 10 forums and I try to post in every one of them. Forum posting is valuable but also article writhing and guest posting is efficient.
