type site:mydomain.com into google/yahoo/msn search, if there are no entries, the domain may be banned. If you have a site registered with Google webmasters, it will tell you there if there are any issues

  • There is no way to tell for sure. But if a site has a ton of backlinks, used to be in Google's index, but no longer is indexed at all... then chances are that it has been banned.

You "may" get a message in Webmaster Tools... or you may not. You used to never get messages when your site was penalized or banned. But Google has gotten a little better about sending you a message if you're being penalized.

If you think you've been banned the best thing you can do is fix everything about your site that is even a little bit questionable. If you've bought links, contact those webmasters and have the links taken down. If they won't take them down, redirect them somewhere besides your domain. LOL. Once you've fixed EVERYTHING that might have gotten you banned, submit a reconsideration request.

If you recently purchased a domain and fear (after you put up a new site) that the domain might have previously been banned, you can submit a reconsideration request telling them in the details that you recently purchased the domain and have no affiliation with the previous owner. They will typically lift the ban.

Agreed with you guys. There's so many tools to be considered on how to find which site has banned by google or other search engines but first analyze your site and fix it if there's anything wrong with it or contact the webmasters for any clarifications.

Site has banned because of site contains:
      hidden text and hidden links
      keyword stuffing
link schemes meant to rank you higher in search results
      linking to bad neighborhood
      sneaky redirects
      cloaking
doorway pages created just for search engines
Here are some examples of finding out are you spamming for example in the situation where you haven't designed and created your web pages yourself or you are not sure what you have been doing with different programs.
We can find it by an 'Google checker tool'.

The question remains though....if your found to be banned CAN you get it back on track or is the domain dead forever no matter how much you clean it up?

Can I toss something else in the mix?

Being "de-indexed" is not the same as being banned.

People here can attest to the fact that their site is there one day,
gone the next, then reappears. In fact, many of you are probably
experiencing this without even knowing it.

Finding out whether it's banned or just not showing is a tough
proposition. If you find links, it's probably not banned. If the
googlebot is still crawling, it's probably not banned. There actually
can be many issues relating to being gone from the index.

I wish google had a way of telling you whether it was banned or not.
If there is a sure way, post it here!

Yes, I do know there are things that are a tell-tale sign that the site
      is banned.
