Hi,

I've got quite a few sites that caught the restlessness disorder. They just won't stop jumping up and down in rankings. They'll be on the first or second page for a few days and then they disappear. Somtimes you can find them and somtimes they are no were to be found but not deindexed. Then after a few days or weeks they'll come back and they just continue on this cycle.

I understand if they were new sites but the sites are almost a year old and have multiple pages and a few backlinks. i dont consistantly build backlinks to them but I do build a few every once in awhile( building links is such an exciting task). A few were restless from the start and have not calmed down no matter what I do and some just started the past few months.

Whats the cure? Anyone got a magic pill or a effective home remedy.

#1 - Are you sure you aren't looking at the rankings when logged into a Gmail account? Personalized results can make this happen as when you are logged in site you have previously clicked on will rank a lot higher. (note, you can also see personalized/customized results simply by Google logging your IP and you have to opt out of this via search settings)

#2 - If the answer to #1 was no, then it sounds like you are on the cusp of ranking in the top 20 but are in need of some higher quality links.

    Hi Brad,

I usually use the rank checker from firefox to check my rankings and I'm aware of the personalized search and have accounted for that and I've confirmed that is not what is happening.

Can you explain a little what you mean by quality links?
anchor text links from article directories?
links from sites with related content?
    links from hi PR sites?
    is this what you mean?

    Thanks
