Create My Own Blog Network or Use A Service

I have noticed that a lot of people are using services such as SEOLinkVine and Linkvana to get contextual backlinks to their money pages/websites. These services cost quite a bit of money on a monthly basis to use. So I have been thinking of alternatives.

My Idea: Why not make my own blog network. I thought about just buying 10(to start with) PR2 or PR3 generic domain names and just start my own network.

Good Idea? Bad Idea? Some insight would be appreciated.

It seems like these services(SEOLinkVine or Linkvana, etc)will eventually get noticed by Google and basically turn to crap.

Let me know if I am off my rocker for not wanting to spend the money on one of these services.

The only thing I can think of that keeps sites like these afloat would be that Google can't specifically tell that SEOLinkvine posted a specific article to a specific blog. As far as I know, articles are not available to the public. They are simply auto-posted to the blogs that are selected and that's the end of it. Maybe the blogs that are receiving content might get hit with some sort of a penalty after Google catches on, but there's probably a handful ready and waiting for their turn to scoop up a bunch of free content for their sites.

You may be totally correct in saying that Google will never find out. I am just trying to do my due diligence and decide whether I should invest in a service or create something I have complete control over.

By all means create your own blog network... these services are just allowing you to benefit from such a thing without having to set it all up yourself. If you're willing to put in the time, money and effort to build your own then you'll certainly have more control.

I would personally start my own blog network. Just know that it does get expensive. If it's in your budget, go for it.
