Would You Call About A Blog Comment?

I use blog commenting a lot as a way of link building. All of my comments are high quality, completely relevant, and I read through the authors' posts entirely. I do, however, like to remain anonymous aside from my links. Well today I got a call from a blog owner who wanted to know if my comment on his blog was entirely legitimate. The post was linking back to the company I work for and instead of either approving the comment due to quality or deleting it with a quick decision of spam, this guy literally called to talk to me and see if my comment was legit.

Now be honest with me, how many of you have enough time to call all of your blog commenters and ask about their comments?

I'm sorry, but this is just cracking me up that he actually called me.

Honestly for me as for now it never happen because I'm new to this SEO world but in my opinion they are just confuse about your quality comment or they don't disagree with it, these are the possibility that I've observed in your story.

...or they were simply amazed that they actually had a real visitor on their website and wanted an excuse to chat with them.

I would use that as a stepping stone to possibly work out a better relationship for the future. If you were commenting on a blog that was relevant to your niche and has some authority even better! Might be a good chance to work in guest blog post or future editorial links that will be much more beneficial to your backlinking efforts than just the blog comment.

Good communication is key in any good business/colleague relationship and it's obvious this guy has no qualms about that.

I believe you impressed them with your comment, that's why they call you up to know that if your comment is legit. What did you tell them? What happened next?
