I am just curious if anyone is getting good seo traffic here?
My site is now on page one and there in not alot of traffic through SEO coming yet. According to google there are 40,000 searches a month for this longtail keyword and I checked the next month google said only 800O? Anyhow do you think I should go for a shorter tail keyword? I many take longer to hit the 1st page but I do believe I would get alot more traffic.

Where can we find how many times a long tail keywords are being searched via google, can you share that with us?

Based on my experience, the importance of the keyword is dispersive, just keep on the long tail keywords and find more useful content and link page for your customers, I think soonner or later the traffic comes,, hope so haha...

Googles data changes with the season, if not the hour.

The Google Keyword Tool have taken an overhaul (Google Quietly Updates Keyword Tool Accuracy - Search Engine Watch (SEW)) so we are getting new and lesser figures for our search terms.

About the traffic, i am getting good organic traffic through SEO and this converts well. You need not just to be in page one but you must be in the top 3 ranks so that you can get a good traffic. So aim for the top and the organic traffic will follow.

I like using my own internal Analytics to find good keyword opportunities. Of course when you first start out you don't have that so you have to rely on external data, but I try to keep a close eye on Analytics, because if you get consistent traffic for a given keyword you can almost guarantee that that same traffic level will be multiplied if you increase your ranking for that keyword. So the best keywords are ones that bring in some steady traffic even when you are ranked low for that keyword. I found one such keyword when I ranked about 60 or so for it. I had never considered it or targeted it before, but since it seemed like a good opportunity I targeted it directly to try to get the ranking improved. A few month later I got a first page ranking along with 1000+ visits a day from that one keyword. Had I not been looking at my analytics I would have never know about it.
