Hi,

I got a tool that can uncover how much is a value of a link generated to a website. If the link value is 0.0000 will SE still consider is as a decent backlinks and will it make higher ranking of the website which is linked with that link (that has 0.000 value)
#link

Link value is 0.00 means your site not get any link value. So, it is not useful.

      Hi visimedia,

First let me say that websites don't have PR. PR is assigned to the individual document. If your tool suggests that a "website" has PR you probably shouldn't trust that tool.

Second, all pages that are indexed have some PR (approx. 0.15) but the value of the PR is weighted by a trust factor. So a backlink can have no value if the page it's placed on has no TrustRank value. (PR0.15 X TR0 = 0 Value).

Naturally a page that is not indexed does not pass any value, but I couldn't tell you if your tool is accurate. Does 0.00 PR mean that the page is not indexed, or does it mean that it does not display toolbar PR? Many pages that have a small amount of PR will show PR0 on the toolbar, which is the only place a tool can pull PR data from. So at best, your tool can only tell you what the approximate PR was at some point in the past.

Finally, to your question of whether low PR backlinks are a waste, well it might be, but maybe not. Nearly every new page starts out with little or no link juice and it grows over time. If you are placing links on pages with decent content then many of those pages may grow in link value over time to become high PR backlinks. So it makes sense to allow for the link value to grow over time and become worthwhile. Perhaps the permancy of the link along with the usefulness of the content should determine whether a low or no value backlink is a waste or not.

Are you talking about SEO Spyglass? Backlink checking tools and websites are great for uncovering backlinks, but piss poor in attributing proper value to backlinks.

So, don't pay any attention to the software's "link value."

      Indeed.

Forum profile backlinks can be (well, are) pretty effective but SEO Spyglass usually gives them 0.00 'value'. Just one of those things.

I actually believe they give all page PR0/NA links as 0.00, but I haven't selected the link value checkbox in awhile.

The Pr of a page is actually updated constantly within google but the changes are only updated every few months. Bare in mind that you never see a fractional PR (4.2) from Google so the tools most often show only PR starting at 1.

this means that a page that has .50 in actual Pr is still going to show as zero PR.

Recently i put 50 links on pages with N/A and it went to a PR 1 the last update. That tells you zero is not absolute zero but PR that you can see in the tools just counts in whole terms. Within Google the algo creates and recognizes fractions
