You can autoblog, but it's best to mix it with original content.

I've got a celebrity site where I've manually ripped complete news stories from other sites and no harm has come to my Adsense account or page rank. That site in nearly 3 years old. That was the site that was used to get my Adsense account approved! I no longer rip complete news stories because it's grown into an authority site.

What I do with autoblogging is to keep the auto generated posts to a minimum and write more original content. Rather than autoposting, I set WP Robot to post as drafts and then I'll rewrite the post or use only the first 3-4 paragraphs of a news story and add my own commentary (I know this defeats the purpose, but it looks more professional). A lot of sites do this and I feel no harm is done as long as you link back to the source. It may not be ethical, but I don't believe Google will ban your adsense account. At best you may get a warning for "scraping content," or worse the site will get sandboxed. This assumes your site or sites get reviewed, but the majority of them don't unless the Google bots suspect fraudulent click activity or sudden increases of traffic.

For me, the autogenerated posts makes it easier to have content that is there waiting to be edited and then published rather than having to look for it. I still look for content manually for some of my sites, but when you have multiple sites it can become a lot of work looking for things to write about.

You can attempt to set up an autoblog and have it completely automated, but sooner or later someone from the site that the content was taken from may contact you or your web host and will demand that you remove their content. They might even try to sue you for copyright infringement, but it probably won't be worth their time or money. I'd say the chances of this happening are 50/50, but I'm no expert. If you plan on just using Amazon, Ebay or YouTube autoposts, then you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks for such an honest post and keeping it real about autoblogging. I like your draft idea which you use for rewriting few paragraphs. I prefer to rewrite completely but its incredibly time consuming. Its a trade off we all have to deal with. Great post.

Why do you assume that autoblogs only make a few cents a day? I know of some autoblogs in the tech/legal area that make bank. They're mostly news aggregator sites optimized for high(er) traffic keywords

Autoblogging can make you quite a bit of money. Taking content from other sites in their entirety will not get you Google slapped as in banned. Google is suppose to take either the date of the content posted and credit the site with the earliest posting date or the site with more authority.

There is no duplicate content penalty in the sense of being banned. You just may not get Google credit for the content.

Nexus7 above made some great comments.

I am not a big fan of autoblogging or of creating armies of drone blogs, but if you use WP-O-Matic, use it to supplement your own quality articles with occasional guest bloggers using WP-O-Matic that "invites" related content. That way you provide quality and originality.

I think originality, and personality are prett important, after all you get a lot of your blog traffic from people who bookmark your page or Rs-it. If it reads like a bot then it's less likely to get repeat visits. Make sense?

The secret of earning big is to have as many blogs/websites as possible, but the problem is that you may find it very difficult to write article for all the blogs/websites.

It is very difficult to maintain all the blogs, that is why autoblog is somehow okay. But it shouldn't be totally on autoblog. once in while, ones can write his own unique articles and mix with autoblog

that was very helpful I have been wondering about autoblogs myself and use some spinning on articles to make them more unique, however when you read them its not exactly pleasant! - but 100% got to mix in some original content with any website too, its important and then you can also build link to those articles too.
