Use the section targeting script. Go to your adsense account and search for

    section targeting

and you'll find a simple script and instructions for how to use it.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

AdSense will use the words in the domain name, filename, TITLE tags, and META Keyword tags, among other things, to find matching ads. So you can optimize these to increase ad relevancy.

However, the primary factor that AdSense uses to determine what ads to display, is simply which ads earn the most money for Google. You don't have much control over this. You can try blocking irrelevant ads, but what you'll typically find when you do this is your eCPM going down.

Some advertisers can force their way into your creatives just by paying a lot of money for the ads. AdSense also displays ads targeted to the visitor's local area, and will also target ads based on what keywords the visitor used in their most recent Google searches. You can't affect these either.

When you visit your own website, and look at what ads are displaying, you'll often find that it matches what you recently searched for on Google.

Sometimes the reason why AdSense displays irrelevant ads on a specific webpage, is because that webpage doesn't get enough traffic, and therefore the ads can't build up enough click history to establish an AdWords Quality Score. Just by driving more traffic to that page, you can resolve that over time.

this is true. i almost removed ads from one site, but decided to give it more time. they became spot on, likely for the reason Steve mentioned.

Login to your Google Adsense account and then go to "My Account".

At the bottom of this page you should see a section called "Interest-based Ads Preference" - click the edit link.

Make sure the following option is selected:

Do not show ads based on user interest or demographic categories. Visitation information from my sites will not be used to help create interest or demographic categories.

    Don't forget to save changes.

    Cheers,
    Gordon

When the quality of clicks is low, for whatever reason, they display garbage ads - it's horribly annoying. I suggest trying out other monetization options.

You could also create Google Adsense Channels for targeting.

      To get targeted ads;
      • Have your keyword in your post/article title
      • Have your keyword in your URL post/article
      • Have your keyword in your Meta Description
      • Have your keyword bolded within the post/article
      • Have your keyword in the first, middle and last sentences of your post article. Keyword density doesn't matter...at least for me
You could do section targeting, that works well, too. But it's not an overnight results, it would take few weeks to see relevant ads for this section targeting. That's why it's important at the very instant you made the post, you have to do what I said above. That works for me, I'm sure it will work for others, too...
