I am looking at a niche to enter. The first page of Google has mainly Linkedin, Facebook and youtube sites. Will this be a good niche to enter? With these sorts of sites on the first page do you believe it is easier to compete for the keyword.

The keyword has:

309 daily searches for the keyword
2300 competing pages on Google when I search for the keyword phrase. in Google.

What's you opinion about this?

Thanks for your help.

My question is, are these sites you just mentioned among the first ten competing sites?

If yes, it will be tough but it is possible, very possible. There's no mountain anywhere except the one you created for yourself. Just map out your strategies very well. You can even study the competing sites, find out their weaknesses and strengths...Do they add fresh content regularly?

You can beat the competing sites if you do your own part very well. Nobody wins a race by looking back to see what the other contestants are doing.

As for me, I no longer worry about competition.

It's not impossible, but for sure it's more hard. But, like "King Shiloh" said, if you do your task good, then you will see the results coming. Or if you have money, you can outsource everything!

I generally find that linkdin, facebook, youtube etc are fairly easy to beat. Usually because these pages normally have very little in terms of off page SEO. Having said that, having mainly these kinda sites in the top 10 might set a few alarms bells ringing - why are there no 'regular' sites listed? Obviously each situation is unique & it's difficult to say more without knowing specifics.

For starters: you can create a You-Tube video yourself and as long as it doesn't have a ton of backlinks, you can get more.

The same goes with Facebook. Create your own Facebook page and once again, get more or better links to the page.

    LinkedIn? Same again.

These sites are all open to the public. Make a page on each and also have a page on your own domain targeting the phrase. Link the You Tube video, Facebook page, and LinkedIn profile back to the money page (which will have its own set of links) and you'll be cool bananas.

Can't agree more, and for these social media sites it is quite easy to find out what other people had done on them

Thank for your replies guys; very helpful.

    king sholah:

Yes they are amongst the first ten. I agree competition can at times be overplayed too.

Yes I feel they would be easier to beat in terms of SEO too. I wanted to see if you guys agreed.

Thanks for that brilliant post. Setting your own youtube and Facebooks pages and targeting those keywords is somenting I hadn't thought of, that's a very cool idea!
