I admit it, i'm an Adwords newbie!

...and i'm finding it to be one of the most confusing
and ridiculous experiences i've ever had on the web.

...and to make matters worse, the product I am trying
to promote via Adwords is very firmly in the "business
opportunities" field.

I started my account this week, but prior to doing that
had read countless guides on Adwords, that purport to
explain how best to advertise, along with insider tips etc..
but i'm still having real problems...

All of the ads in my account are EXTREMELY well targeted,
and are extremely relevant. Nontheless, Adwords started
me off with a quality score of 4/10, which jumped to 7/10
after I agreed to pay 10 times my original bid per click.

It appears that no one at Adwords wants to send a personal
email, in response to a direct question and I don't want to
be stuck paying a fortune for clicks. I'm also not entirely happy
with the idea that their "quality" rating appears only to relate
to how much you're willing to spend as an advertiser.

I know that Adwords has been profitable for some, and I know
this posting sounds like a typical "newbie" whinge, but what on
earth are you doing to make your campaigns profitable?

Regards,
#admit #adwords #newbie

If you aren't an expert of PPC , Adwords will eat your money faster than you think. You should stay away from it, if don't know what to do.

I think facebook ads are more profitable then Adwords, if you realy want to start with PPC!

Hey Stefan, i'm not a PPC expert now. I used to do PPC, however, for one of my campaigns around 10-12 years ago. That was with Goto.com, and it was (clearly) a very different time and things have "moved on" now i'm sure.

Back then, I had around half a million keywords in the Goto.com system, one highly targeted ad for every surname in the world and I was receiving a colossal amount of traffic and paying just a penny per click...

Now, you can't do that kind of thing (which is why i'm sharing the story with you) but I certainly can testify to the fact that PPC can change your financial life completely... as it did for me

There is clearly something i'm missing now 'though, with Adwords, and I have no idea what it is. My business opportunity is a niche that is pretty much "fully owned" by me. Others compete for the small number of keywords I am targeting, but for reasons I won't go in to here, all roads lead back to me... yet, I am being forced to pay a fortune to advertise with them, and the ads themselves could hardly be any more relevant!

That was the start of PPC, and the prices were very low and the competiton was low. Now everythings has changed...and like I said, adwords will eat your money with light speed, if you don't know what to do!

I agree, in 1998 you didn't really need any skill at all. If you had a big enough list of keywords, and were largely relevant, then (providing you had a good offer) you could write your own cheque...

Now, there is certainly something that needs to be "understood", but I have no idea what that is. Google itself offer no insights, and i'd be glad to hear from anyone who is actually making PPC profitable for themselves using Adwords.

If you are having to bid that high it means that your ad and keyword to not match your landing page in Google's eyes.

Google will LET you pay to send traffic that is not a good match but you will soon drop out as it is unprofitable.

You can send me a PM with your keyword, ad and landing page and maybe I could help you get a better quality score and reduce your bid.

Agreed with you. facebook is in demand today and there's no doubt for it regarding PPC. Before accommodating any methods just make sure that you have a background with it or study then implement.

the guys at adwords from memory do not work weekends / so stay patient on that / they will respond, as for bidding / i probably would not throw a * 10 bid to claim a q score / over working with other keys that did show a good q score.

As for the relevancy and target / this can happen a lot where people think they are aligned / regardless of what people think, it is what googles little adman widgets think that counts and comments like have made are common.

for example, my site is about horses, my ads and keys are about horses then i should be fine / sometimes the bots do not read it that way.
