That's interesting, actually I have a site that is quite big and is ranked highly in Yahoo for it's main keyword, yet I couldn't get it indexed by Google for that main keyword for a long time. Done backlinking with article marketing, blog posting and from web 2.0 sites and still can't get it indexed in Google. Even now that it's finally backlinked it isn't even in the top 1000 in Google, and this is not a hugely competitive keyword term.

You need to Concentrate on Meta Tags.Shold submit to google webmasters. Also try following steps: 1. Submit your site to digg.com 2. Submit your site to technorati.com 3. Make sure you have two yahoo accounts. Firstly, you submit your question (containing your keywords) to yahoo answer. Secondly, you change your account, and answer your own question. Pretty Sneaky, I know, but it helps build good incoming link to your site or blog 4. Submit your site to at least two other big social bookmarks.

Yahoo and google has different ways in updates that's why you think that google might have a problem with your site or try the other tools to check your site as well.

jhonsean is right they do have different ways of dating. The problem is that they keep changing it also so you have to stay up with all the changes. There is no clear reason why but you could use some more back links you have 47. Definitly submit your site.

We have a site that is only a few months old, over 11,000 backlinks

If the OP wants his site indexed in Google, he/she MUST get more quality backlinks... end of story

That's completely wrong Brandon. You don't need to have a certain amount of backlinks to be indexed by Google. In fact, I can do it with just one backlink to a site, and then blamo it's indexed.

For example, if I added a link to my site in my signature, here on the Warrior Forum, it would be indexed within a few hours. That's really only 1 backlink that it takes to get indexed. That goes the same for me putting the URL in the footer, of any of my various sites.

Don't try and get a billion backlinks, just comment on a high-profile dofollow blog, or add it to your signature on a popular site. There are sites that rank with 0 indexed back links. Back links don't matter, in the indexing process. In ranking? Yes, They do.

I am sorry but you could not be more wrong.

I have domains that are indexed in google that do not have a single backlink, it is not hard to get a new domain indexed from just submitting a sitemap or pinging your service list with the URL which will send the bots.

I never said you need thousands, I said they would need more quality links.
Pages don't get indexed with out a link to them, that can be with sitemaps, profile links, blog comments, articles whatever, a search engine spider won't fine a page if there is no link to it or no way to notify the bots of the pages.

that is true, but search or ask anyone who knows 2 cents about SEO and they'll tell you the way to get a site indexed is with quality backlinks, which is what I said in my post.

The only other reason why the site might not be indexed even if it has backlinks is because it's banned by google or in the "sandbox".

I didn't say you needed X links, I did say they needed more quality links

actually no, that would be more then one link even if you had one post.. you would have the link from that post as well as your profile page (if those are viewable by guest, that is)
Same thing with sitewide links, which BTW are a bad idea since google can think it's spammy

The simple truth is search engines won't find a page without a link back to it of some sorts..
and the only way to build your ranking on your SERP's is with quality backlinks.
(that is of course after you've optimized the site)

Im not sure if this tactic is not new but I learned this from a marketing person
To force Google to index your site:
Create a blog on blogspot, with the url name being your keyword, create backlinks going to your site (atleast 3 posts)

    Add your blog to Mybloglog

and after a few days, Google will have no choice but to index it

    so far it worked
