What Are Ways to Get Backlinks foy Your Blog?

I have a blog that I would to start building backlinks. What are the methods that can be applied. So far I know of

1) Blog Directories
2) General Directories
3) Article Directories
4) Forum Signatures ( Does this count?)
5) Profile Link ( Does this also count as backlink?)

Please share what other methods that you use.

    As well as above I use web 2.0 sites and blog commenting. But I make my sites content go viral, to get others to link to me. I use social media sites like my blog, Facebook, Twitter etc.. and link them together.

    There’s a big difference between backlinks and good backlinks. A lot of baclinks just don’t count and worse still, some backlinks can count against you. If you have good content, which visitors helpful or insightful you can increase you good backlinks. Or pay for them J

      Really?

      I would like you to share with us what kind of backlink can hurt one's site :rolleyes: I would love to have access to some of those to destoy my competition.


      If I had a new site I would start by building backlinks doing mainly article marketing (This includes posting to article directories, web 2.0, press releases and anything that is related to getting backlinks by creating textual content). After a couple of months I would add porfile links and blog commenting.

        I was thinking about Google's link spam? exchanging links, purchasing links, etc. Google does apply link devaluation to a site. How many backlinks per day before you trigger spam bots as well? With pyramid linking, your site can be penalized or banned.
        Bottom line is if Google thinks you are in violation of their guidelines, or you fall foul of a filter, it will affect your site.

    The most powerful and effective back links are those from relevant High PR sites. If you cannot get those ( usually through paid methods ) you can try to do Press Releases, free ones are sites like PRlog.com.

    The viral nature of a press release can generate hundreds of good back links to your site in no time. Granted not all sites can have a Press Release written for.
