Get them to provide you with a report of links completed each day. This way you can stay on top of them (in the first few weeks atleast) and push for increases in productivity until you can trust that they can work by themselves in the best interests of your business.

    Good luck!

I am going to negotiate on job basis (example: 100 links for 75 $) instead of hourly. Last time the guy said that he will build 10 links per hour, but after 30 hours, i have only 90 links

WOW! great strategy to ensure you get the right number of links created for what you are willing to pay but that is WAY too much!!!

We get our links built at a rate of approx 60-70/day for about $12 ( $60/week) with daily excel reports sent to us that we can verify.

These are REAL people using non-automated methods (ie no tools that might get your profiles deleted)

You're better off getting workers on a unpaid trial basis - for 8 hours and seeing what sort of work they do after one day of work. Worst case you pay the worker $12 for their troubles - most won't even ask and thank you for YOUR time and the opportunity you gave them. This way for $60 you can potentially trial 5 workers more more and find someone who is great.

Again worst case you'll probably find that even if you trial 5 workers and find non one worth hiring - you will find that you'll easily get the 100 links/$75 target you were after in your first post.

      Good-Luck.

P.S. I suggest with any link building your best bet is to TRACK the results to ensure you're getting your money's worth when doing any sort of link building.

Duplicate content is the biggest thing. Crappy backlinking with crappy half spun content might work for a few weeks but it is not strong enough to last.

Ask to see some of their previous work and see if they have testamonials available, if it is working fro other people theres a good chance it will work for you too.

Yes, of course you want proof, and also ask...

do you use anchor text with my keywords?
can you use images for more keyword placement?

these really can amp your bookmarking/backlinking!!!

The first thing to note is that is almost impossible to "view" the links from the search engines. A way to ensure that the links are placed is to ask for their URL.

Other thing, is that I could build you 100 links per hour, but placing them in crappy site with automated tools. Too many links like this don't help. You need a balance between quality links (less quantity) and normal links (more quantity). Don't rely only in the number of links!

Great points; How to make sure that they are quality links.

I just paid a guy for 300 links recently. I saw 90 links in yahoo site explorer. Today It got reduced to 55 links!

As a seo company I can tell you what I would ask anyone you deal with.

1 - Ask to send a sample linking report.
Inspect it carefully. Make sure their anchors are correct and not mis-spelled. Make sure they link to proper sites. Make sure links are still active. SEARCH google for their keywords and see if the site ranks.

2 - Ask how many link types they offer. It's not wise to build lots of one type of link while neglecting others. A diverse link portfolio is the best.

3 - Ask them what they do after they build the links. Do they do any post build work to make sure the links get indexed? What good are links if Google doesn't use them to help your site.

4 - Ask if they replace broken links. Some companies do and some dont.

5 - Ask for testimonials, reviews or past email contact information.

The answers to these questions should give you lots of information. If you need help figuring out the answers from your contractor and what they mean you can PM me.

Likewise you can use me as your contractor.

    Good Luck.

The best strategy i use is to get a unique article written and submit to best of article submission sites. I submit 1 article to 3 sites only. For a month i get 30 articles of 500 words written and then those get posted in ezine, articlebase etc. I get 180 links for $125. this is working well for me. Yes, this price cover 30 articles cost and submission.

Next PLAN- i will soon start with web 2.0 sites. I might shortlist 10 sites and add 3 unique articles each in them every month again for 30-60 urls. budget is $100. Here, article needs to be unique for each site.

So for $200 in future......i will be doing safe white hat link building. I dont want to offend Google who has always rewarded me for my hardwork. As my income would rise, so would my investment.

Some might call me slow or wasting resources when 1 article can be spun in 100's. Well this is the way it is. Duplicate article in different site is ok with Google & article directories and i am playing with rules only.
