There are sites that have your link as dofollow but when you mouse over the link it is to the hosting website.

When you click it goes on through to your website.

If you are just looking for dofollow backlinks would this qualify?

I don't know if this is dofollow or not.

#dofollow

Are you saying it is to something like thewebsiteyouareon . com / linktoyourwebsite ?

    Like they cloaked it?

You will have to look at the source code to see how the mouseover
effect is done. If it's html, the link is visible to search engines. Just
check for the nofollow tag. If it's a script, it's invisible and the point
    is moot.

There is no way to force google to "follow" a link. There is no dofollow.
Even if they omit the nofollow, google still may not like it.

I will look at the code but my feeling was it was a way to not give away any "link juice".

Looks like that is a synonymous judgment.

Won't be wasting anytime there unless it is a high traffic site.

If you mean that you got backlinks from some websites that after clicking on links, you will be redirected to your website by a Php script, know that these links are not dofollow and they are no backlinks at all. Because they are not pointing to your website directly.

301 or permanent redirect passes link juice and they do qualify. Other types do not.

      Check with seoconsultants.com/tools/headers

to see whether a redirect is 301 or not.
