Alright well let me start by introducing myself due to the fact that im a brand new forum user. My Name is Austin Gore and i am 18 years old, and just recently I have opened my own website and started working on the SEO Factor. I have always had pretty great knowledge in the Web Era of information. But in this issue i am 100% confused and pissed off.

I have been working for about the past 20 days on ranking for a Low Competition Keyword. Creating Several Backlinks through article submission, Etc..... Everyday i log onto the internet and check out where my website is ranked for the keyword. (It has yet to rank after 20 days) I know i am doing the SEO process correctly, but this is not what im pissed off about.

So i figured i would log onto google search engine and type in my keyword for kicks and giggles, As i come to find, How in the hell does a website get #1 ranked in the keyword in which ive been trying to rank for 20 days, In Simply Well 5 hours. The 1 article with 2 Backlinks they posted was posted at 4:24 Eastern and already has Keyword Rank 1.

Please Do explain
#confused #ps3 or xbox 360 #wtf

Because google does not care what you think.

Search results change, all the time.

A new site can get a boost.

Your site is not in a vacuum. Your competition is not on Mars.

When you think you have completed the whole list, and are done,
    you're only half way through.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

Nothing Paul said was him being a dick. It was him telling you what's up.

You've been working 20 days on a page and you're expecting a magical page 1 ranking? Then you get upset because another site ranks #1 quickly?

The other page that's ranking #1 is probably from an established domain with some trust and authority.

Older, longer established sites have authority, trust, and most important a good inbound link profile making it much more easy for their pages to rank than your brand new site.

Rankings take time, practice, and willingness to learn and listen. What Paul said is absolutely true. There are other people out there in the world who could target the same keywords that you targeted. The web is not a vacuum. Just because you did some work doesn't mean that 10 other guys didn't do more work.

And Google doesn't care what you think. That's just the truth.

What about Paul's statement was him being a dick?

If you plan on making this thing work you're going to have to drop the attitude and be ready to learn. He wasn't attacking you, he was stating the facts (in a blunt manner albeit, but still the facts).

I didnt Expect my page to magically be page #1 truthfully i didnt even take into account that it would even be in the top 10 pages Until i saw another domain instantly ranked after 1, Your information was exactly what i was looking for. I looked up the website in alexa and its within the top 1000 in the US so thats why it got ranked so easily.

In my opinion his comment came off like he was being a dick, but i am new to the Forums and the Seo community, So that could just be a normal way of addressing Questions. I Apologize

Are you talking about an article on an article directory/ blog ranking or a page on their own domain?

Dick was kind of harsh but come on now Paul was waxing a little existential

"Your site is not in a vacuum. Your competition is not on Mars.

When you think you have completed the whole list, and are done,
    you're only half way through."

Sounds like something Miyagi would say or maybe Yoda.

At least I got a good laugh from this one...

    Look4VGames,
Are you using some method like SEOquake, money work matrix, traffic travis or something else to know that you have a good chance on ranking.

You sound like you are on the right track but it is blood, sweat and tears all the way to the top.

Don't listen to all the BS about getting to the top of Google in 3 steps.

If you want to make money you will have to work for it.

Keep learning and be consistent in your activity.

Remember you have not failed until you stop trying.

    Cheers
