I read this in an ebook about building affiliate product review sites and it did not go into detail as to what it means or how to do it.

Any Ideas?

It because your anchor text gets lonely and enjoys a good rotation from time to time.

Based on the info you've given I'm assuming you're doing backlinking and what the author is suggesting is to not use the same anchor text for every backlink but to mix it up a little... rotate your anchor text.

what is anchor test? this is anchor text The text of a link.

So if you are the ugg boots master leaving a gazillion backlinks... rotating your anchor text would be like using "ugg boots" "discount ugg boots" etc... mixing it up so it look more natural.

Anchor text is the text (keywords) you use when creating a hyper link.

Why not use the exact same anchor text every time?

OK, if you want to rank in the search engines for a certain keyword(s) you need to get backlinks using the keywords that you want to rank for in your anchor text.

But, if you have 100 backlinks to your site with the same exact anchor text (keywords for you backlink) then it will look unnatural in Google's eyes and it could get your site sandboxed. So that is one of the main reasons why you never want to use the exact same anchor text. You can and should use similar words for your anchor text, just don't make all of them exactly the same.

anchor text are the words between your tags. It's what people click on to go to your site. Google uses those words as an indicator of wht your site is about.

I've heard people say anywhere from 50-90% of anchor text for your keyword is good, and then the vary the other 50-10% between at least a few other keywords.

If you were getting natural links, every person that linked to your site wouldn't use the same keywords, so it looks more natural this way to google.
