I was hoping that I could get some advice. So I put up my wordpress blog, it is set up for the most part. Had 24 Articles written around my niche concentrating on 3 key words. Started adding content to my site. took two of the articles and submitted them to aprox 30 article sites, did digg, delicious, and twitter. Also set up a ping.fm and sent out links to articles on all the services they offer. Went to some other niche related forums and posted helpful non-spammy posts with links where allowed and here is my problem. according to the firefox seo tool I have never at anytime had more than 7 backlinks to my page and as of the last three weeks it has gone down to 1 but now is back up to 3 but that is still horrible. I did also go on ebay and bought some links could that have hurt me. Anyways thank you in advance for all your help. Everyone here is always vey helpful. My site for you to take a look at is Ecigauthority.com. I welcome any and all suggestions. thank you!

Hi, i'm sorry to hear your getting frustrated with your SEO efforts.

First thing to get out of the way is take my advice and stay WELL away from buying links on Ebay, the only thing they are good for is getting you red flagged and sandboxed by Google.

You say you submitted all these articles to article directories, we're they all the same article or different? If they we're different grab the urls of the submitted articles, head over to link2rss.com and create a RSS feed from them then submit that RSS feed to some directories and bookmark it. This should make sure all these articles get indexed pretty quickly.

Just keep doing what your doing and your backlinks will increase, focus on getting quality backlinks from other websites in your niche.

It can be frustrating to start with but it generally takes a month or more for a new site to start rolling.

    Hope that helps

The site looks pretty new as the domain is only 2 months old.

New sites bounce around a lot (or at least they can) and new links can do the same thing.

Spend your time on increasing you knowledge and building links.

Checking your progress often is like planting a seed and then digging it up ever hour to see if it is growing.

Keep working and you will get there.

love this advice "Checking your progress often is like planting a seed and then digging it up ever hour to see if it is growing..."

bet we are all guilty of that at some point, I know I sometimes do it with my list stats and then I have to force myself to close it down!

On the main question - yep your links will vary. I know blog commenting is slow going but the links from that are probably better quality that article directories and will stick around longer. Also good choice of keywords is essential - I managed to get 1st and 2nd page rankings within a really short period of time (like, days), so stick at it.
