I've done everything that I think I could to get a blog article onto page 1 of google.

Press releases that got syndicated-About 15 backlinks from PR9-5
Bought backlink packages-Have over 200 backlinks to the article
Youtube videos with links to the article
Ezine articles with links to the article
Social bookmarking on 20 different accounts.

Still can't get the article to page 1 of google. any tips?
##10 #page

Don't take this the wrong way...

You DO have the keywords you're plugging into the SE in the article body, the title and the <meta> tag in the HTML, yes?

Is the keyword repeated more than 3 or 4 times? That might be a factor.

Are you competing with PR3+ websites for this keyword? If so, you'll have some trouble if your article is on a PR0 site. Only time can help you there.

Are your backlinks from sites with PR greater than the PR of the site its posted on, or are the backlinks from 'bad neighborhood' sites? If you bought them, did you verify that the backlinks are even there?

OK, description, my bad. But the Keyword tag is not depreciated yet and could not hurt.

@ jsmith2482 ... Then it might be the PR of the competition keeping you down. Changes in PR are only adjusted every quarter, not every month.

Patience. There are some searchers that never click SERP page 1. 10-15% perhaps go directly to page 2+.

Thanks for the help. I've checked the PR of the 10 sites above me and they aren't really bigger then mine. Some are the same. Even my keyword rich youtube video with a ton of views and some backlinks isn't on page 1?

      Thanks

Yes, the keyword is repeated multiple times throughout in a normal fashion, the meta tags are also there. The links that I bought are live and there pr varies, some are higher and some are lower then my own pr.

OK, jsmith, try an Alexa search of the sites above you, look at the 'sites linking in' and also the keyword relevancy for those sites. Compare and contrast with your site and take appropriate action. Also note the demographics they have as visitors, target those as well.

Not the only way to 'spy', but its a start.

Grab a free Alexa account to see the best details

Get the Alexa Toolbar, then you can see the demographics of the visitors to the competitors sites. This will allow you to target your traffic on PPC and social media buys when you wish to advertise your website to those in the age bracket visiting your competitor's websites.

Alexa tells you women 25-34 are over-represented, target them on the media buys.

I can't spend the time here to walk you through doing this in the forum though. I'm working on the tutorial vid's LOL

How many links do your competitors have for the same keywords you are trying to rank for, and what is the PR of their respective pages that are ranking on the front page?

How old is your site, compared to your competitors... do you have sufficient trust in your domain?

These are all questions you need to know the answers to before you will know if its possible to rank for anything...

It depends on the competition on keyword that you are targeting. If competition is high then you have to build more number of back links for your targeted page. Make sure that you build quality back links, because only quality links can help you in providing high SERP.

Better have Market Samurai and check your competitors number of backlinks for that particular keyword and keep building quality backlinks and not quantity.
