Hi guys,

need your advice on the best way to do the following.

I have a main domain that has a good quantity of quality backlinks.

For ease of navigation i want to create a new site on that domain but for a different set of KEywords.

I have found a domain name that is a match for the keyword and want to use its power for ranking.

If I do a 301 redirect of the new domain name to new site on the old domain.

will google register the keyword URL with the content? and domain backlinks

or do I need to backlink the new Domain name?

thanks
dan

Using 301 redirect tells Google that all value of redirected domain to be juiced to the new domain and it means you still have the value of old backlinks for your new domain.

I've looked more into this and there is lots of information on the reverse.

using old url to point to a new one.

but still haven't found any information on a new one.

might do some tests myself and see what happens.
