Any Experience with Retargeting?

I just got an email from a retargeting service (roundtrip). They claim to advertise on webpages visited by users who visit your site but don't convert.

Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with a service like this?

    I'm also curious about this.

Roundtrip seems to be getting some legitimate positive press, check this out from TechCrunch:
Browse Before You Buy? Adroll's RoundTrip Is Targeting You.

I have zero experience with retargeting, but I've seen really good supposed statistics for it.

I seems very clever conceptually. A smarter kind of advertising. Ideally, I'd like to see more unbiased statistical studies on the subject.

Re targeting works! I had a pair of Nike shoes follow me around the web for a week before I finally bought the damn things. lol. I literally saw them on every large portal site or other large network site. It was kinda freaky.

    Never tried re-targeting services though.

Lmao, you know they're a decent pair when they follow you around

It will work but there are problems and they're obvious.

You need to ensure what you're advertising is uniquely focused or the cheapest of said item (or the manufacturer of said item as then it doesn't matter where it's bought you still win) on the web.

You'll notice most ads on the Google content network tick either of these boxes

Of course there's other factors but if you understand those two you'll grasp the concept of advertising on ad serving networks.
