I am new at this, so what is the best method(s) that I should do to back link. I'm not affraid to do the work... I just don't know how to do it.

I hear people spend hours a day doing this. What do they do.

Is it something you have to do forever to get your site to page one or can you eventually stop?

What if I have 20 (or 200) sites, how do I backlink them all?

can someone explain?

Thanks

Unless you can outsource, it is just going to be a lot of work. My favorite methods are articles, web 2.0, and Yahoo Answers. I'm sure other people have many other ways of doing it.

Great SEOs don't build links, they have other
    people building links for them.

How? Simple: they get people's attention and
    they are interesting.

    Can you make yourself interesting?

Hi could you please expand on what you mean by buy links?

I am assuming you don't mean ppc, you mean from directories for example?

      Thanks

Buy them from networks that connect webmasters. One example would be Text Link Ads. This is just an example. I've never used text link ads, but I have read good things.

You sign up, then you can browse links by price from other websites. It's not really buying links so much as renting them. You pay a set price every month and in exchange you get a link.

Sometimes all it takes is one very powerful backlink to push your site where you want it. So, do some research and find out what backlinks will provide you with ROI or the best ROI.

true, but if google can find that out - then youre doing it wrong or should I say buying the wrong links

I dont understand why people are so quick to buy links without even charging down the competitions links, not all of them are exclusive to them so you can also drop your link in mostly the same places

getting relevent links is easy-search-read-digest-go do
its all on this forum and if you feel it isnt then search google

If it’s a new venture I’ll look at what my competition is doing and where
I will look at what google is indexing where and why
I will then go with the data I get from both, follow your competition is the easiest but stay on the curve of what google is currently indexing

SOME of the Best ways to build Backlinks

    Good old fashioned article marketing
-There are hundreds of article directories wating out there for you to post your articles to them. In doing so you can generate many great one way backlinks

good- unlimited possibilities to amount of backlinks you can have. It is also free if you're the one doing all the writing

problems- You may not be great at writing and outsourcing to a good writer could prove expensive. It could also take up a lot of time!

    Blog commenting

-Comment on blogs that are within your niche, especially ones with 'do follow tags'.

good- great if used on blogs with a lot of traffic, as it can get you some good quality one way links. Use this technique intelligently and you'll make it work well.

bad- okay this is not really bad, but try not to become 'spammy' and always try to comment on things in a ways in which you're contribution is well appreciated. This technique could also be perceived as time consuming also.

    Hiring an backlink company
    - These are great if you're short on time or want great results really quickly.

good- more often than not great results in a short period of time and less effort on your part

bad- be careful who you give your business to and make sure that they are using good techniques- just a read of the homepage should allow you to make apt judgement to see if they know what they're talking about. The ones with exaggerated claims are often the ones that are lying I've found

    HOPE THIS HELPS !

It always good to know your competitors first.
Then make your sites more interesting.
Then you can hire someone to backlink it.
Mix it with some forum profiles, Web 2.0, article submission, blog commenting and many other techniques. They know whats best for your site.
