I just came across this aticle :

What Does Google Places SERP Update Mean for Local Search?

According to this article, google has changed the organic SERPs for local searches which I guess is a big move. What do you guys think?

    They've improved it I noticed and it's good for all those out there that work with local companies. You'll notice that they're now giving small websites an opportunity to outrank the directory listings because in fairness that's how it should be.

    After-all businesses don't pay for their website to then only be found via some directory. They pay for their website because they want to be found when people look for them without them having to click half way round the web then land on their site.

    Does anyone know if this new feature is directly related to Marissa Mayers move to local?

    Seems like a lot of vets are getting frustrated with TOO many features bombarding SERPs.

    Yup, local search (aka maps search) is now more important when you add a geographic term to your search query. This is great!
