1. Website Analysis: Analyse your website thoroughly.

2. Keyword Research: Do the proper research for Keywords. You can use any of the tools like: Google Adwords Keywords Tools or Wordtracker

3. Google Webmaster Tool: Setup webmaster tool for your site.

4. Header Tags: Try to use h1-h5 header tags

5. Bold Font: Make important things stand out by making them bold

6. Canonicalization: Always avoid duplicate content

7. Sitemap: Create sitemap.xml for your site.

8. Robot.txt: Upload robot.txt file

9. Competition Analysis: Do the proper competitor Analysis

10. HTML Code Clean Up & Optimization: Make it perfect

11. Image & Hyper link Optimization: It is very important that your hyper links are accurate and descriptive.
12. Link Validation: Validate every internal link on your site

13. Meta Tags Optimization: Prepare the proper meta tags with targated keywords(Like: Title, Description, Keywords.

Robots.txt file is file on your site that is meant to give instructions as to where search engine spiders may and may not go. It is kind of Permission systems which means you can not force bad bots to listen to it. Bad bots are the bots that go all over your website but don't offer you any value at all.

It helps to ensure that your site gets spidered and indexed properly. That means the pages you want to be found, can be found and the pages you want hidden will remain hidden.

  (H1-H5) Header tags are an effective way to communicate to the search engines and readers what a page is about. They convey the importance of the text inside of the header tag. Often times, the header tags are not in the proper order. This is how a header tag would appear in the page.

  H2 - Main Sub Section
  H3 - Sub Section
  
  The h1 header tag is the largest font. The h2 tag is smaller than h1 tag but larger than h3 tag and so on to <h6>. However, the font size of each header tag can be easily adjusted with css making it possible for all headers to appear the same size:

You forgot the most important and effective part of optimizing a website for top rankings in Google and doing this in most cases will guarantee you high rankings.
What is it? "Create top quality, unique and highly relevant content and make sure you content stays fresh, that is keep it updated and adding new content at least every 3 days"

Yes you are right Content is also important factor in SEO. We should always need to update fresh content. But i would say do not update content every time. Updating content every time it can be also harmful your site.

i am confuse on your second tip which we need to choose the right keyword, i see that google adword keyword tool is not so specific on find a real good with very accurate search. So, how u determine it is good to you?

You say post articles on web 2.0 sites I have posted several and between all my sites google does not seem to count those as baclinks according to what I have sumbmitted taking that they all passed the back links which I know they wnt, I should have around 300 social network backlinks. But I only have 9 backlinks and 0 arefrom any of the sites I posted on. What do I do?

Aswellas that I know the social network stes are being indexed in google I did a search for my keyword and generally find 15 or so results in the first 5 pages but not of them generate a baclink although my url is in my anchor text. Are most of the social network sites no follow if not all of them. Article submission sites as well although articlebase article slash and ezine articles and a lot more post my conent it is not generating one back link, and whn auto bloggers publish my content like fashioninus.com they generally rank first page instantly with no page links, although I do get a backlink from there auto blogging.

I would like to thank everyone at unlimitedgb.com for helping me with the process of transferring the host of my website to unlimitedgb.com.
