Need help with researching my keywords for my inner pages

How do you guys conduct your long tail keyword research for your filler pages on your site?

Should I try to find gold mines for each inner page such as competition level, PPC, and search volume?

I was going to try this route and need to know if this is something that works or not.

I found my main keyword which will be optimized as my homepage. I found a few high traffic keywords with a good PPC payout so I figured I would go ahead and optimize each page for each one of thos longtail keywords.

Should I be concerned with the competition levels of each long tail since the visitor will already be on my site?

    Well, if you hope to rank in the top 10 then you better look at the competition. At least when you are first starting out. Once your site is larger and an authority then you will find it easier to rank for harder keywords but that takes time.

    I like to take it one step at a time. Get my first page ranking on page 1 then move to the next until they are all there. Don't get discouraged if it takes a while and work on backlinking every single day. In my opinion, you should spent twice as much time backlinking as writing your content.

    i think just focusing on what the content of your inner pages are in order to determine keywords. product type + keyword relevancy = sales.

      So basically you just focus on that one main keyword for things and just add additional content as needed based on what your product is on?

      So if my product was like hair brushes....my inner pages could be shampoo, conditioner, combs etc or should I stay with red hair brushes, green hair brushes, etc?
