Hi guys,

Just wanted to share this tip with you.

When it comes to displaying adsense on your site, less is more. I had 3 ad units until last week on each page of my forum. I was getting enough clicks but adsense was only paying me 15-20 cents per click. Last week one of my friends suggested me to display only one ad unit and thats exactly what I did. so past seven days I have been getting paid 50-60 cents per click. My revenue has gone up almost 35-40 percent. Ofcourse the clicks will be a lot less but you will still end up making more money

What are your experiences?

Less units can make some sites more money, but this is not a universal truth.

It depends on many factors including:

    What niche you are in.

What style of site you run ie:Blog, forum, static HTML site.

    How engaging your content is

    etc.

The best thing to do is test a variety of layouts over time to see which performs the best.

I have a forum on politics. I would say 99% of the times ads that are displaying has nothing to do with politics, so there goes the niche factor.

Let me explain you which this happened. In your niche the quality and targeted ads are very less. With 3 ad units Google distributed ads including low paying and untargeted ads. When you changed to 1 ad unit, you got ONLY quality, targeted ads as the ad space is very less and hence the increase in revenue!

    Hope you got my point!

My experience is also the same. When I use 3 ad unit in my site,I got 50 cent from 10 to 15 clicks but when I keep only one ad that make me atleat 90 cent to 1dollar per click. So keeping less adsense ad is a proven strategy.

Why would Google payout more for less ads? I think it's a coincidence instead of a proved adsense strategy...

that depends on the niche? or are you saying that 2 image ads + 1 text ad have higher pay-outs than any other combination?

Here is an advice how you can make even more money than with one ad on your site.

The ads with the highest clickprices come up within the first Adsense Block in your html source code, the last one get´s the lowest paying ads.

If you want to optimize your Adsense earnings just do the following:

Find out which position on your website gets the highest click through rate. Check this with only 1 ad on your website, rotate it within your website. You can´t use more than 1 ad block because you should have the same ads appearing in each position.

After you know that i.e. the bottom ad block has the highest CTR than you should place this ad at first in your html code and but with help of css to the bottom in the layout. The adblock with the lowest CTR should appear at last in your html code even if it is the top of your page.

Are you running a forum or a website/blog? Do you target high paying keywords or just write and go with what you get paid? I don't get a whole lot of clicks on my website that gets most of my traffic, but my content targets decent paying keywords average payout per click is $1-$4. If you're running a website/blog you might want to try targeting some higher paying keywords. You make a lot more when each click pays more (obviously) and it doesn't take a whole lot of time to do some simple keyword research.

So you only show the top-paying ads when you show less...and get paid more when people click on them.

        ...I'm's told.
I've been told the same thing. I've also been told higher paying ads are displayed higher on pages, and lower paying ads are displayed lower. I need to test this for myself and see if it's true.

I think the key to this is experimentation. Keep changing things until you find the best results for your site

I am currently using 2 ad units on my site and I make 8-15 cents per click most of the time, the same earning per click with using 1 ad unit. I have heard that using less ad unit will result in better quality ads but maybe my niche is different

I had only one 300x250 block under my title and a friend convinced me to put a banner (two ads) in the middle. I created channels to see how they performed. The middle block is getting twice the revenue that the top block is getting.

Almost tempted to put one at the bottom, but I am resisting. don't want to jam it up with too much advertising. I have a couple of banners from a different source on the right columns already.

have tried this way exactly but the result was as before. It depends on the content of your website and the bid of shown ads.

I use Dreamweaver to build my sites. I've always wanted to learn to use divs instead of tables. I finally spent the time to do so, and I am so glad I did. This is one of the advantages. The code is cleaned up greatly, and the main text (along with the 336 x 280 block) is displayed FIRST. divs allow me to control where the adsense appears in a way tables don't.

Google stated that appreciates when an AdSense partner is not
"bombing" its users with a lot of ads

My cpc differs hugely, one day I get 20 cent a click for 15 clicks and the other day I get $1/click for 10 clicks in a row so can't say anything usefull about it really.
