web site ranking advice needed please

Hi

My website is called sellinghousequickly dot com - its over 5 years old - as I bought it on a back order. Its has roughly 500-600 backlinks. I tend to track rankings more than anything else.

the # 1 competitor is only 4years 6months old but they have over 4000+ backlinks as per Yahoo Explorer, probably a lot more. they also have 500+ pages against mine 13 or so.

This is our backlinks plan: everything is being manually: we are building about 380 backlinks per week using: Directory Submission, Social Bookmarking, Blog Commenting, Forum Posting, Article Submission.

will it possible to achieve page 1 ranking in next 3 months if we carry on same pace? Also, is it true that 80% of traffic goes to top 3 listings so even though I get it to page 1, it will not mean a lot of traffic?

what other recommendations do you think we should be doing?

Roughly how long will it take me to get to top position?

Look forward to your thoughts.

First my experience with backlink is that if you have good Pr relevant backlink than it has more wattage some times only 10 to 50 backlinks has more power than 4000 irrelevant backlinks. Look for relevant backlinks, I think its not hard to get any keyword on first page of search engine, if you know how to do this. On page SEO is an important factor in ranking keywords which most of them ignore. Three months are enough to get any keyword on first page.

If you want to post their domain I'll tell you how many.

Have you looked at the authority of the domains that link to your competitor, and where the link is on the site?

will it possible to achieve page 1 ranking in next 3 months if we carry on same pace?
It depends on the overall keyword competition.

Also, is it true that 80% of traffic goes to top 3 listings so even though I get it to page 1, it will not mean a lot of traffic?
A lot of traffic goes to the top 3 listings, but whether you get a lot of traffic just by being on page one depends on the keyword volume e.g. 1% of 1 million searches per month will make it at least worthwhile (depending on the 'buyerness' of the keyword / keyword phrase).

what other recommendations do you think we should be doing?
Add more optimized content. Internal links done correctly count, and you can pull in long tail traffic to this content.

Roughly how long will it take me to get to top position?
Again, depends on the overall competition.

Yes please, their domain is called theadvisory.co.uk

It depends on the overall keyword competition. These keywords we are targetting are highly competitive such as "sell house quickly" and "sell house fast" but, they also come with a lot of traffic.

your strategy looks good but forget about directory submissions and include links from video directories. Use tube mogule or traffic geyser.

I would also include some Web 2.0 link juice and RSS feeds as well.

think about hiring a link builder to create a grey hat style link wheel and then send some xrumer links to the Web 2.0 and profile links in your link wheel.

Add content to your site as well while building links to it.

this will get you much faster results then doing only white hat link building

      Good luck

        Hi Heat,

        Thank you for your comments/tips.

Using traffic geyser or tube mogul - this isn't something I have tried before mainly because:

        a) I thought Google doesn't give a lot of credit to paid links such as these?
        b) I don't have any video content
        c) I have no idea - how many / how often videos to post as usually for my site I try to post one to three updates per week.

The other concern I have is that if there's "spike" in number of links being built using these video syndication methods then will Google "slap" my site perhaps??

I've been building linkwheels using Posterous network - post stuff there backlinks back to my site via FB, Twitter, Posterous blog and Blogger. Is this right strategy or should I do something different here?

I have hired someone to help with backlinks.

Thank you for your wisdom and look forward to your answers.

My gut feeling says you need more content, 13 to 500 pages is just impossible IMO
