How Long Does It Take An Article To Pay For Itself?

I'm getting into article marketing and outsourcing my writing. This is a broad question, but if an article costs $7, realistically, how long will it take for it to pay for itself? I realize this depends on the niche, the SEO, Adwords Margins, etc., but a lot of people seem to be doing article marketing and must have some ballpark figures.

Is it realistic to expect an article to pay for itself within 1 month? 3 months?

Hello, I´ve been using article marketing for some time now and not all articles are the same. I usually write on the "Forex" niche and I´ve had articles generating $700 in just one month but also some generating $40 in one year. My recomendation...optimize keywords in your title and write as many good quality articles as you can...

Interesting. I am optimizing my titles for keywords found in Google's Keyword tool, but my articles aren't going to be terribly original (basically I'm not counting on the article's content to do the selling). I'm using the articles to drive traffic alone.

Are the Car, Home, Health, Life Insurance niches too competitive for article marketing? They have a lot of traffic, but I worry that articles in those niches won't even beat competition for long tail keywords.

Also, adpalo, what sort of competition and traffic numbers (according to Google's Keyword too) do you create articles for? 20-50 searches/mo & under 10,000 exact match competition?

Anyone else's insights are also much appreciated.

      Well said.

Your are not looking at a unique article, but on every single of your articles.

As an example: you submit 10 articles at $7.

This doesn't stop to a single sale.

Those $70 can pay for themselves over and over.

You build your list, get top search engine rankings and potential buyers who click through your bio box to your website.

It will depends on your niche, but some of your articles will get 2000+ views while others will get 50 views and that's it.

You need to take those 10 articles as a whole:

For $70, let's say that you get 500 visitors (50 per articles).

From this 500 visitors, you can get 50 subscribers, and some of these will buy later.

From this 10 articles, your website can be found on the search engines.

Plus, overtime, your article will still bring in visitors and most importantly sales.

Building a list of subscribers with your articles is a wise idea because your articles will pay over and over, specially if you sell (or promote) recurring products, home study course in your niche.

I forgot to say that those articles can also be used for your email newsletter.

Oh yeah... And what about your next ebook (and what's an ebook if not a bunch of articles?) that you sell between $20 and $50 later on?

Plus your coaching or continuity program?

Bottom line, your $70 investment will come back to you sooner or later.

      Franck

If you have managed to write an article in a profitable week then you should be able to make back the $7 investment within just a matter of weeks providing you have done the right research and that your article is of genuine interest to others.
