New Google keyword tool - search volume

Hi,

Until now, when I was looking for a good niche (SEO), I have searched keywords with the Google keyword tool that had at least 2000-3000 searches per month.

In the new keyword tool the search volume dropped significantly.
Does anyone know how many searches I have to look for with the new keyword tool when I'm looking for a good niche?

Thanks
Steve

I've found that Google's numbers aren't all that accurate. I get loads of searches from terms that have 0 searches according to the GKWT.

So which tool do you propose to use to check search volume of keywords?

The only sources that REALLY knows are the search engines themselves so you are stuck with Google's data.

Using Google's data as a way to compare keywords is usually okay directioinally but don't depend on the actual numbers being true.

Google Keyword Tool is not 100% accurate, but it's still a great tool (maybe the best free tool... maybe). To answer your question: Don't just look at the search volume without factoring in the competition level.

500 searches per month could be good if you're ranking #1 for a buying keyword. Take your time when researching the market, because most people fail right here and spend months promoting the wrong keywords.

Of course that I also check the competition level.

But if for example I found a keyword that isn't competitive and a few months ago it had 3000 searches monthly, and now has 300 searches with the new tool. Should I choose this keyword?

      Thanks
