What's the best (cost effective) way to drive TARGETED traffic to my website?

Switch from SEM to SEO.
Build links, rise in SERPs- tried that yet? (it's a slow process).

I can tell you how to get tons of POORLY TARGETED traffic fast & free. But that isn't what you're asking.

Don't spend your money in PPC until you don't have time for SEO.
When you can receive tons of free traffic from SEO then why spend money in PPC?

I agree with ORVN. SEO can really show a magic. Even though its a slow process but i works perfectly fine.

Another thumbs up to SEO. Once you are making some decent money and not as much time to SEO, I would turn to PPC.

Hi there. I used adword for 3 days and set there 10$ , 20$ and 50$ daily budget Now in 1 day i have to pay 120$ to google . LOL but google analitics tells me that google ads click all are 140 clicks and adword panel displays 670 :| in total i dont want to see how much should i pay to google and there is no result. No sales, absolutely nothing

You need unique, quality content and basic SEO. Also build backlinks.

I thought i'd help you out. PPC I would personally avoid if your like me and a relative newbie to this game. I thought I would tell you how I make money and what seems a more sustainable method of making money online. First it's important to understand that in order to make money there are a few things you need. One is to understand that you need to build a list. Why??? Because building a list is a way establishing rapport with your customers. Briefly, you need what is called a squeeze page. A squeeze page is a page that serves one purpose only, that is to get as much people to sign up as possible. On the squeeze page is a sign up form, and you should provide something of value, not just a lame e-book, something that is of quality and you should over deliver here. Once you have this all done you are ready to promote or drive traffic to your site. This part also requires patience and attention. Don't forget there are many ways to drive traffic, and alot of it can be free. With the introduction of Facebook and Twitter, particularly twitter these are great places to promote. One important rule above all else, DONT SELL STRAIGHT AWAY!!!. People don't like being sold to straight away, and alot of marketers do this and find themselves not achieving sustainable incomes. I would recommend that you frequent useful sites like the warrior forum and start learning different seo techniques. There is a lot of great information and people on communities like this one.

It is free to learn basic SEO and the only thing that you are out is time. Slow and steady wins this race IMHO!

PPC is better left to the veterans. Good luck.

I would suggest using traditional SEO, PPC is great for companies who can afford them. I currently do marketing work for my company and have dedicated about half of my week to traditional SEO. I do this even though we get generated traffic from PPC. Regardless of the PPC traffic, some people "including myself" never click on sponsored links, they look like Spam to some people. In under a month I've managed to get my companies website ranked on the first page when searching for "Leather Supplier". I did this simply through joining this wonderful forum, writing relevant articles (INCLUDE LINKS WITH ANCHOR TEXT), submitting to legitimate directories and joining social media groups. In just a month the website is getting ranked for the competitive keywords I use. Results will vary though, I believe that I am in a great niche (leather wholesale). Good luck and start doing some traditional SEO if the budget is not there.

PPC really fired you up, Thats why lots of online marketing experts suggest you to do SEO. Its a time taking but you will get quality results! Do proper research on SEO and them move on to it!

PPC advertising is one of the best ways for getting backlinks for a new website as SEO takes some months. But if you were unsuccessful, it depends on some factors:
The quality of your website: For example maybe users who have clicked on your ads and entered your website, didn't like it and left your website for ever.
Your max BID: Maybe you set high BIDs for your ads and it didn't worth to pay such high for those keyword

As many have mentioned on here, SEO is a great way to market your site. At the same time SEM/PPC is also a great way. The one thing I saw mentioned in here that kind of surprised me was where I read "When you can receive tons of free traffic from SEO then why spend money in PPC?". This to me seems misleading as I know it can cost lots of money if you want to optimize your site well enough to get listed in the top organic pages. Also, with Google's algorithms continually changing you need to continually optimize your site and unless you yourself are an expert at SEO you will need to have someone do this for you again costing you a decent amount of money in the process.

To be sure, I am only saying that there are many methods in which you could promote your business online and you should caution yourself to not put all your eggs in one basket. SEM/PPC can be very rewarding and can also cost you very little to begin seeing results.

PPC!!! never would not try it again.To many ruler and routines even with your money at hand,this sucks.Some few hundred bucks wasting away with adwords.Not for everyone especially me.

Get an offshore team on ODesk or Backlinkteam to build thousands of high quality backlinks mostly on blog and forum commenting and that will drive tons of traffic to your site.
