Letting google crawl membership locked pages?

How to do this?

I have a membership area that is locked off course, but how do i get google to crawl them? Since there is a lot of content/keywords, its pretty important.

    Google can only crawl public stuff.

    Why have it protected if you want it to be found?

    There are various ways around this. You can program
    a timer so that a person gets a few minutes to surf,
    then is locked out. Big news services use some sort of
    this.

    You can program so that some of the protected page is shown.

    The thing is, unless you have it programmed right, it is a moot
    point. Google showing content, then sending someone there only
    to be given a signup button is not what google considers good
    search results.

    Showing half the content, with a "click here to continue reading"
    button is more of the way to go. If your pages are a reasonable
    number, you could do this by hand. If not, a good programmer
    or some auto-content management system could do the job.
